legionsteel
We've just had a discussion on warhammer forum. Arguing about americans... So, I want to ask you. Maybe, some of you got an american education. I'm interested in one thing: how much do you know about Russian Federation and it's history? The answer is necessary to stop flaming on our forum :). p.s. and again: i'm sorry for my bad english.
Marxist ßastard
The vast majority of Americans wouldn't know what a Lientz Cossack is if not for the movie Goldeneye.
cactoblasta
I know that the communists were coming to get us in the cold war and they apparently had a penchant for hiding under beds.
Malchik
My experience leads me to believe that there is a small number of Americans who are interested in world affairs and history who will have a good understanding of the Russian Federation and the events surrounding it. The vast majority could not name the states of their own union. This is not so much through lack of intelligence but lack of interest. I suspect the citizens of many other countries are much the same, but in Europe the small size of nations (and the fact that there have been many wars here) makes them more aware of neighbours. And in many (Italy, Spain, Portugal, France and the UK in particular) the history will encompass a period of Empire building that encourages a more global outlook. legionsteel
My experience ... global outlook. Thanks, a answer worth starting this topic is given. Spasibo, muzhik ( kakoy ti Malchik... ). =) I know that the communists were coming to get us in the cold war and they apparently had a penchant for hiding under beds.Muhaha... This is lack of interest, yes. But in this case, I fear, it maybe also a lack of intellect.Cactoblasta, I'm gonna give you a link to history of Russia, just wait a little. Tiberiu911
My native country has been under communist control ( Romania ) for a very long time (until 1990's). I dont know anything about russian history, but one thing I can tell you, communist isnt a good lifestyle. Max portions of food, outrageos bills, cant talk about the governament without risking a bulet in your head the next day... I now live in Canada, wich as you all know, has the United States of America as a neighboar. Ive been to USA once, and I can tell you that Capitalism is much much better. Sure, George Bush is an ass, but would he order his own army to fire on a crowd of civilians like the communist romanian president, Ceocescu, did? As for the Global outlook. I have to point that half the americans dont know that in Canada, theyr neightboards, we speak both french and english. If you would go in a southern american country, and you tell a kid there ( assuming that he goes to school ) that your from Canada, he will ask if its from the French side or the English side. More than half the Americans dont even know who the Prime-Minister of Canada is. It is a sad thing for them to blame the Russian Federation for single events, until they know the history of a country. I will stay neutral in this debate. KzinistZerg
Don't worry, some of us actually visit and like canada. Specifically the Rideau Canal. Yeah, most americans don't know that much about russia. This is becuase we uniformly fall asleep in 'world cultures' class once we get to russia. Really all we know is that Rasputin was some dude who did some stuff with the royal people sometime in the 1900s and some other stuff happened bacuse of it. m3lisk
all i can say is that 90% of americans are naive, arrogant, and ignorant of what is really happening out there. I am from america, and i must say i like the land, but not the government or people. The government is corrupt, and the people are ignorant of the resources they are using up. Companies refuse to make more enviormantally safe products, for all they see is profits. As for knowlage of Russia, one of my friends is in the Russian navy, and has said it is now a nice place. As for the cold war, i do not know much, but it is behind us. I do know of Stalin though. I am a WWII fan, so i must say i know a bit about that era.
