Daggers In Oblivion

I personally think it best to get them in either a) the throat, to prevent breating and sound from emiting  , b) along spinal collumn, to shut down nerves in cerrebrum  (probably spelled it wrong), or c) in back off head in upward motion to peirce brain :D . Another nice thing though would be if someone made a mod for damage multipliers( head x 4, arm x .75, etc.), that way a throwing knife mod, or arrows would be realistically lethal.

DAVE 7HE RAVE!!

I much prefer the Longsword to shortsword or dagger.

As i like the range, damage it causes, and it looks cool on my warrior.

I only used daggers at the start of the game when i would just have a rubbish sword and i was given enchanted daggers, e.g. Dagger of Jolts.

;D The arguments on this thread are funny!

:D I personnally am going to side with the Paramedic bloke...Morgul_elf or summit (sorry if i got your name incorrect)

For some reason, I only use daggers on my Mage chars for a better Role-Playing experience, although Longswords are alot better >.<. It would be great if someone made a mod that lets you hold the dagger with the blade pointed down, basically just hold it upside down :/

I often use the disarm and knock down power attack, and it's hard to do them when you only have the range of a dagger. So I use longswords. I only use daggers for my assassins, because that just looks better, and I don't need power attacks then!

You should be able to hold a dagger upside down to stab like an assassin would.

No assassin would use a dagger in the classic overarm stabbing motion you see in the movies. The shoulderblades, ribcage and skull are too thick for an attack coming from above to cause fatal damage instantly. Daggers tend to be used to thrust up through the stomach area. ...

Contrary to popular belief, the quickest way to a man's heart is not through his stomach... You can circumvent the protection of the ribcage (and some body armor) by planting the dagger just behind the collarbone— grabbing the chin and pulling the head up to expose the collar, followed a downward thrust to the heart.

Historically, the best blade to penetrate heavy plate armor was a dagger. On that grace, one idea as how to improve daggers in the game would be to give them a natural ability to ignore a target's armor rating. Keep the damage and the reach the same, but treat an armor-clad target as being virtually naked when struck by a dagger.

Involves a little strategy there. Block and force the opponet to recoil, then move into range and jab them with the dagger before pulling away from their superior reach. That, or effect a knockdown and go to town on the sucker. That's the way of the medieval judicial duel— usually ending with one knight grappling the other to the ground and working a dagger through any gaps in the plate.

Against an unarmored opponent, there's essentially no difference. But a Marauder wearing full Ebony may have to give pause if he's being confronted by someone with a Daedric dagger.
