im trying to install something like bidells makeup studio and hair packs like this > Make_chargenmorphcfg it asks me to copy the exe and the xml to the overrides folder. my only question to this is... where do i find the xml? it says in the instructions that it is located in 'Misc.erf' or other MOD, etc.. what/where is this?

and my other question is about the override folder itself. i was told that all i had to do was open the dragon age folder like this C:\Program Files\Dragon Age\packages\core\ and go in to core and create a new folder named override

i tried to install the mabari to wolf mod using the override and it has changed nothing.

so am i doing something wrong or am i just missing the point?

First off your override folder is in the entire wrong spot. The guy who suggested it for C:\Program Files for windows XP is wrong.

C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)\My Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override

Now drop everything into their. Also for the chargenmorphcfg.xml I suggest you just grab the chargenmorph itself from the two and download this little thing http://social.bioware.com/project/2440/ which is a chargenmorph compiler. Since the one for that is rather... annoying and typically for me doesn't work.

Default Path for DA Community Mods under Win7 (any flavour):

"C:\Users\[username]\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override"

THIS is where your mods belong.

Certain ( very, very, few) "fixes" (the only ones I know of are for fairly rare advanced-scripting issues created when using the BioWare patches 1.03 and 1.04) require very specific individual replacement files to be placed in the "Program" folders, rather than the "User" folders.

Path for DA program files under Win7 (64-bit): "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age"

(and under that there is, indeed: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\packages\core\override" ...

But this folder is NOT where ordinary mods belong!)

NOTE: Upon installation, (at least on my Win7(64-bit) system) TerraEx's "CharGenMorph Compiler" will NOT find the DA program folder. It expects there to be a "\BioWare" in that path too, as there is with the "\[username]\Douments" folders, but there isn't!

also keep in mind that the mabari mod is effed up, due issues with the way that game handles certain things. If you arent seeing the effect, then you won't see the full extent of that mod's full effect until you start a character which hasnt spawned a dog yet. :(

If you arent having an issue with it, then you're good. But otherwise, yeah.... you'll have to wait til your next character to see the changes.

I've been experiencing some problems in this area as well.....

I'm trying to get Bidelles Studio Mods set up, to do this you also need More Hair, CC extra tints and tones, Chargen Package, and Pineappletrees Vibrant Colors.

Now from my understanding all these mods have their won chargenmorphcfg.cml files. So I downloaded the DA_CharGenMorph_Compiler_v103.zip

that LancelotLoire spoke of to combine all of the listed mods chargenmorph files into one.

Upon initial use I had to configure :

Dragon Age Install Path (Dragon Age Root Folder) = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age"

My Documents Dragon Age Override Path = C:\Users\User Name\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override

Next I attempt to Scan for xml files. This does not work for me. I basically get a message saying my DAOriginslauncher.exe executable file is in the correct spot ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age) But the override dir was not found. It asks if I would like to create the 'packages\core\override' set of subfolders in the above location? If I click No nothing happens. However if I click Yes an error is encounted and access is denied!

I tried manually copying the override folder from My Documents and Pasting it into Programs sections where this program seemingly wants it to be, then tried scanning again, and this time it actually scans and finds all the XML files from the mods. (Which in this case is Pineappletrees, Chargen, and CC's)

Next I click Compile conflicting chargenmorphcfg.XML files into singular XML. Another error message appears saying My documents override dir. appears to be the same as your Dragon Age Root Install override dir. This is not allowed.

Having copied and pasted that makes sense it's the same :P

The message also says :

Your documents override path should probably be C:\Users\User Name\Documents\Bioware\DragonAge\packages\core\override. Correctly configure your 'My Documents'' override path to point to the correct directory and try again.

Now this confuses me since that message kind of tells me to do what I did the first attempt which didn't work... Sorry for the long post but I figure a more detailed post would lead to a solution to my problem!

Thanks

P.S I'm using windows 7, as i'm sure you know from that post!

@ Vitellius; Sounds like the Compiler is unable to create the expected, (but currently missing) PROGRAM override folders. Maybe because it isn't running with "Admin" rights, which are needed to create folders there.

Might try this:

Leave your "\[username]\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override" folder the original default location, (or re-copy/paste it, if you had totally "moved" it) . Then make an EMPTY "C:\Progrm Files (x86)\Dragon Age\packages\core\override" folder for the compliler to find.
