Flemming
Tried to start my morning with a bit of Oblivion ... The game started properly, however, when attempting to load any of my saves, the game would jump to the loading screen and immediately freeze, with the Windows error message box popping up with the following text: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: H:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Oblivion.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. I've never had such an error before. I always run the game through a shortcut to the OBSE loader, and it always loads normally. I have no idea as to what the problem would be, as I have no idea how the Runtimes function. Hickory
Does this ONLY happen when you load a saved game?
Flemming
Went back and checked a few things ... The error occurs if I use the 'Continue' option or try to Load a saved game from the Title screen. If I start a new game, it will go through the opening cinematic and everything just fine. However, if I try to load a saved game from a new game, the same error will occur.
Hickory
That suggests that you *may* have bloat in your saved games. Try susing Wrye Bash's 'Remove Bloat' function in the 'Saves' tab. Bloat can occur from badly written mods, or using indescriminate console commands, particularly 'PlaceAtMe', amongst other things.
Flemming
Hmmmm ... Tested all 3 saves, Wrye says there's no bloat in any of them. Hickory
I don't know all of those mods, but two thing stick out immediately: I see Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul.esp but no Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul.esm -- which version do you have? I see your Bashed Patch 0.esp way up the list -- it should be virtually last in the list, AND rebuilt every time you change mods (install/reinstall/change load order). I honestly do not know which version I have (sorry!!! >.<). I know the version I downloaded did not have an esm packaged with it. Should I d/l a different version? Also, I use BOSS within Wrye Bash to order my mods.
Hickory
If your version of OOO didn't have an esm, then it's an older version, and you need only worry about whether or not to upgrade to the latest version. You only need either the 402.6Mb OMOD ready 7z file, OR the 406.6Mb exe file. The 1.34 beta 5 is not needed, but optional, remembering that it is a Beta! Regarding your mods list, the only esp in your list that should load after Bashed Patch, 0.esp is Elsweyr Color Map.esp You should use the File/Redate function or OBMM to move these files last, in this order, and then rebuild your patch: KT_CustomRaceFix.espCobl Filter Late MERGE ONLY.espBashed Patch, 0.espElsweyr Color Map.esp
Flemming
And after all that ... still getting the runtime errors ... Are my saves FUBAR? I really hope not .... EDIT: G/f (who is more computer savvy than I) is recommending copying my saves and my Data folder to a safe place and reinstalling Oblivion itself ... would this be advisable?
Hickory
It certainly couldn't hurt to reinstall. But I will advise one thing: if you are going to do this, when you reinstall, use the custom option and install Oblivion outside of the Program Files folder structure -- somewhere like C:\Games\Oblivion. Also, you might want to read Bben's Reinstall Procedure before doing so.
