VanMoonflow
I making my own race (based off my book in progress) and i get it near perfect, but there is a problem. The save doesn't save. It says its saving, but after 5 seconds it makes the TES CS unresponsive. I've looked up how to fix this and they say to get the latest TES CS and the latest Oblivion patch. i did both and the problem isn't fixed. I have a decent laptop, the Toshiba with a good working video card, and my Oblivion game has no problems. I'm also using the Ren full pack (eyes and hair and races), Anwolf (male and female) and the Lycan race. Are those the problems? Please help me. caterpie
Are the races compatible, you may need to go check. Personally, I never heard of some of them. Also, sometimes it says unresponsive when really, it is actually still working. My construction set on my second laptop always says that when just loading normal oblivion @_@. So, yah.. sorry if this doesn't help, but I thought you deserved some sort of answer.
VanMoonflow
This one also gets unresponsive when it loads too, but when it saves it stays unresponsive for i hope is an abnormal amount of time. the longest i went without manually closing it is about an hour. I hope that isn't normal. Also I've never had a problem with the races before.
Hickory
The Oblivion CS does not like very large dependencies, particularly if you have kept them as esp dependencies -- I am assuming you are loading other data files other than oblivion.esm? If your mod needs another mod that is an esp, you should use Wrye Bash and 'esmify' it before loading the CS, not forgetting to 'espify' it back again when finished -- the dependancy, not your mod. VanMoonflow
thank you. I was using the Ren BeautyPack, and the two other races for the hair and eyes. So i was loading other data besides just the Oblivion.esm.
VanMoonflow
Thank you, Hickory. your advice really helped, but now i have a problem with my race. The Ren eyes are kinda having issues. the left eye (my left) is having a problem. its black. The eye is there, but there is no color. I'm probably over-looking a minor problem, i'll just look on the TES CS wiki, maybe that could help me. If anyone has advice to fix this "right eye being jet black" glitch, i'll gladly take it. Hickory
Do you use BOSS and Wrye Bash?
VanMoonflow
i don't use BOSS but i use Wrye Bash now. I believe my problem is that i have to make the race with just the oblivion file first, then edit the Ren so my race gets the hair and eyes. I haven't been on my laptop to try that. Also i'm still willing to take advice.
Hickory
Using BOSS along with Wrye Bash will help you to avoid missing textures conflicts, just for starters. When you create a custom race it is far better to have it not rely on other esp mods. Resource esm masters are fine. How I do it is to create my own unique folders under \Meshes\Characters\xxxxxx\ and \Textures\Characters\xxxxxx\ and place any hair/eye/face files there. It's then just a matter of duplicating an existing eye, for example, in the CS and edit the duplicate to point to the new meshes and textures.
