Want a good hair replacer/retexture please.

I dl'd this hair pack from nexus "Hair Pack Retexture 4607" 1.48mb.

I thought it was a little small but tried it anyways. I dropped in it data per directions, nothing changed. replaced stock textures and installed it with package manager and when I go for a hair cut, there are no changes, same ol stock hair do's either way.

Any suggestions?

Maybe a better hair re"placer", I want those killer long hair do's, hentai styles I see in some screens.

Lola Character Playthrough Experiment WIP

Look into Lings... Basicly it's a mod that merged a bunch of Eyes, Hair, Race type mods, while modding itself. Mostly because they are so spread out, and you can get into so much trouble from using more than one, or well you used to. Lings is like a pure charicter generation mod, but can be used to create wild NPC's too if yer into that. Lings Finer Things is a different mod than the Lings one. Lings finer things is pretty much a merger of the vast never ending amount of type 3 type V clothing/Armor. Both of the mods are pretty huge.

It doesn't hurt if you start early on working toward becoming a modder yourself. Geez after 2 years I'm still constantly learning, but while I was doing that in came in handy many times as I went from one install to another clean one. The first install wasn't even playable, now I can pretty much do anything I want or can think up. I started out just wanting to mess with weapons in the GECK, which was all just settings. Then worked on learning how to build interiors (CELLS) lighting, Navmesh, NPC, RACE, ect. The GECK is really fun once you know what you are doing, you can really bang stuff out quick.

I had messed with textures for the last few years, but the GECK main page pointed me to Paint.net which is a much more advanced tool (free) Looking back Paint.net is rather simple, I mean if you take a look at the kinds of things that GIMP (free) or Photoshop will do, it makes Paint.net look like MSpaint. Still like 99% of the texture work I do is with Paint.net just because it's faster, an I'll use GIMP if I have too. Eventually I needed to put a silencer on a weapon or something stupid like that, so I started messing with Nifscope. Around the time I mastered Nifscope I started learning Blender (much harder) but they were both free.

Then as I was using different load orders an messing with them with FO3edit, I learned what all the data means. With a lot of reading on the GECK main page. Along with practice using FO3edit to make the game not crash, or stuff like make one in-game item use parts from 6 different mods an such. Eventually that turned into learning Scripting. Now I pretty much know how to do anything, but can't figure out what I want to do so I just bounce around. It wasn't easy an pretty much hurt every step of the way, but it's been just as fun as playing the game.

I reckon the only rules are...

1.Git permission if you jack someones content, hack it up into bits, then spit it back out in a upload as a new mod.

2. Is what you created High performance?

3. Does what you created conflict with other mods?

You need the main Hair Pack files installed first for that to work. Install the pack from my link first, then install the retexture you already downloaded over top of it.

I'm not sure what you mean. Sorry, I don't post very often, too busy modeling, scripting, or building with GECK. I meant Lings.esm "yall don't have a clue" what it actually does in the grand scheme of things. Trypal7 asked for suggestions to which I replied Lings.esm because it has hairpack, plus merged mouths & eyelashes, unlocked races, facegen presets, eyes. There's probably more in there, the way I understand it, Lings is for character creation. Then the old rules about don't use more than one mod for Eyes, Hair, Race would limit the amount of content Trypal could add to the game. You can do it that way with single mods but it's more work an also a mixed up bunch of loose files exacerbated by un-needed .BSA thus allowing archive invalidation invalidated to further mix an match. Which in this case is a big deal because of Eyes, Hair, Race being a touchy subject. Derailed, what like a train trying to help someone see the big picture before they waste time they could use for something more productive?

Bethjunkie, sorry, did'nt mean to give the mod any bad props. I did what you said and am happy with the results :) I should have looked more closely at the files. Thank you.

GrindedStone, you have answered me more than expected and I thank you for that. Because the things you pointed out are some of the things that bother me to about the way char's are put together. This is the first time ever I have ever liked a game so much as to want to invest as much time and effort into it other than play it. Same being said for Fallout 1 and 2 as well.

But this one is a beast, and all the 3-d modeling, mesh, animation has got me dizzy. But with help like you gave and as what I have gotten from others I'm not giving up. I'm learning, and even just today I figured out how to remove parts of a mesh and replace with new ones or altered ones :). I mean thats pretty easy to do once you learn it but next is to learn how to make an object from scratch and apply it to something.

So thank you again.
