gargoylesky
Just because it's an Elder Scrolls game. And I didn't like how the Imperials ruled Morrowind and the minute I found out you get to watch the Emperor die in Oblivion I knew I had to watch him die. DarkRider664
I play it because it's almost like real life, you shape your destiny, choose your own path.
gargoylesky
I play it because it's almost like real life, you shape your destiny, choose your own path. But you don't shape your destiny. The Nines makes us do things we don't want to. Eg: I wanted to join Mehrune Dagons but the Nines won't let me.

Vagrant0
Because you can mod it without having to search down poorly working 3rd party utilities, what other reason do you need? Granted, with oblivion, the 1st party utilities aren't too great, and where they improve one modding option (spells and AI) they greatly limit others (equipment related mostly). Not so much a utility problem as it is a base coding problem, they got lazy.
cryocry
I play it because I like how you play the Elder Scrolls games. You can go wherever you want (in Cyrodiil), and be whoever you want (each 10 races, I mean). Also, because Morrowind was great, and I thought Oblivion was going to be even greater. They are both at the same level of greatness, when I found out how many factions there were and how many miscelaneous quests. But, it does look more realistic. Rhydderch Hael
I wanted the coin that came in the box. Shiny.
C.Z.
I never knew about any Elder Scrolls games until my friend told me I should get Oblivion, so I did. Besides shooting games, RPG is my second favorite type of game so I was pretty much hooked on Oblivion... :D
cryocry
I wanted the coin that came in the box. Shiny. Yes, also a reason I got it. I wanted a Septim and the Pocket Guide to the Empire and all its environs.
