BalianTheMighty
I just tried to re-install OBSE (I recently reformatted my machine) and after putting all the files in the right place and launching with the obse_loader, OBSE failed to initialize. The black OBSE launcher window came up and the game started like it should have, but once I loaded the save, OBSE never initialized. I have v0018 of OBSE and the 1.2.0.416 patch for Oblivion (I have the GOTY edition, non-steam). I have FCOM instaled, although I read that it's compatible, so that shouldn't be an issue. When I opened the obse_loader log file, it says this: crc = 7934C86Cdll = C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\obse_1_2_416.dllhookBase = 00170000loadLibraryAAddr = 768D2884hook thread completelaunching oblivion If you need to know anything else, just ask. Thanks in advance. EDIT: I have the obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_loader.exe, all in the Oblivion folder, btw. DavidBudreck
My first guess is that you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 and User Access Control has gotten in the way. This will continuously haunt you unless you reinstall the game to a neutral directory like c:\games\oblivion. Failing that, you can try right-clicking on the OBSE Launcher and selecting Properties. There, select Run as Administrator. This enables most things, but I do not know whether it will work for OBSE.

And yes, I am on Win 7, but the last time I had it installed, I was also on Win 7. I'll try re-installing it as a last resort but I'd prefer not to because I just spent the past 3 days on and off, installing FCOM. Can you think of anything else that could be wrong. I got it working fine last time. I wish I could remember what I did. I'm pretty sure I did just what I did this time.
ArmeniusLOD
Short of reinstalling the game, right-click on the Oblivion folder, click the "Security" tab, click "Edit", select "Users" in the "Groups or usernames" box, check "Full Control" in the "Permissions for users" box, and apply these settings. Keep in mind that the "OBSE v18 is running" message will not appear after the first time you run it. Check the logs of the OBSE plugins you're using and see if they are also running. "obse.log" will also show if its commands are being registered and at what time. If so, then you're all good.

The mod I'm trying to is a camera mod and before, nothing would show up, but now I've at least got the crosshair. So, something worked apparently. But, it's not working completely. I'm going to try messing with the privileges some more.
ArmeniusLOD
OK, now for the stupid questions. Are the plugins installed in .\Data\OBSE\plugins? If the mod requires Pluggy, do you have its .ini installed in .\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Pluggy\User Files?
BalianTheMighty
OK, now for the stupid questions. Are the plugins installed in .\Data\OBSE\plugins? If the mod requires Pluggy, do you have its .ini installed in .\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Pluggy\User Files? The mod is an OMOD, so it install everything itself, but it works now. It was partly OBSE's fault and partly the mod's fault. When I gave OBSE the permissions it needed, the crosshair showed up, so I knew OBSE was working but my character still wasn't showing up. Well, this mod has to different versions. One with the camera up-close and one a little further away. Well, the distant one doesn't work. I installed the close-up one and it's working now. EDIT: Thanks for the help with the Permissions thing.
ArmeniusLOD
Does OBMM install everything required? I use BAIN, and that won't install .dll files. Anyway, you're welcome ;)

Anyway, you're welcome ;) Yeah, OBMM installs whatever the modder put into the OMOD. The modder tells all the files where to go. I'm not a modder so I'm not really sure how it works, I just know it works.
