coendou
Hey everybody I have been unable to play oblivion, shivering isles, wich is quite annoying of course. i included the report log of my dxdiag in this post. i know that it is 98% sure that my Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family, on-board graphics card is the problem.it's a problem because it's not supported, but although it's a bad graphics engine, i still managed to run dragon age: origins on this (after using game booster and on low settings) so i'm quite sure it can handle the graphics of oblivion to. I have tried oldblivion but it still won't work (wonder why btw) plus it does not support the shivering isles expansion(tried without it to though), is there any way to bypass the hardware check to try and make it work still on this graphics card? else it's been a waste cause i haven't got money for a new laptop :s. i have tried reinstalling twice to, sound settings music disable tried as well. thanks in advance yours sincerely Coendou
ArmeniusLOD
There is a program that can change the hardware ID of your graphics card. I used it eight years ago to get my GeForce 5900XT to run Half-Life 2 in DirectX 9 mode because the command line switch only enable partial features. I really wish I can remember what it is called because I don't have it anymore. I'll search around to see if I can find it. The problem may lie in the GPU's lack of proper support for shading language. Update: I found what it was. It is called 3D-Analyze. coendou
Thx for the fast and non-use oldblivion-standard reaction, currently checking out how it works ^^ EDIT: so far got a loading screen, but then still goes unresponsive, kinda complicated to configure 3Danalyzer i guess
ArmeniusLOD
You should first delete your .ini and run the launcher again to see if it does the first-time launch auto-config. Then try running the game. In the .ini you may need to turn on full-bright lighting and tweak the shader options.
coendou
ok thx i'll try that first however i'mma install my shivering isles and patches again, cause my oblivion did have an rcr error during installation, but shivering isles should fix that i heard also i don't know how to tweak shaders, every tutorial says different also reinstalling oblivion, just to be sure my files wherent corrupted from previous fixing attempts ^^ EDIT: reinstalled all i had, tried oldblivion, 3D analyzer, and one more thing, apart and together, nothing working, although people on fora with the same graphics card manage to run it, i must be doing something wrong

Fonger
IIRC the 965 doesn't play this game, but then again it does, or "almost" using the correct support software it can be induced to appease most of this game but there will still be some problems experienced [while playing this game!] your best bet is to check out the official bethesda forums for a link and/or a complete topic on using this chipset BTW last I heard, it won't work on Windows XP - but does on Vista/Win7
