Is it me?

Over and over lately I have seen mod requests asking to make DA like Oblivion. Am I the only one that is bothered by this? I see numerous requests for open world movement, change of gameplay style, etc. If I want to play Oblivion, then I will play Oblivion. I like DA because of the story, and a lot of these requests want to make a dumbbed down version of DA where the story is mitigated into a side effect. I do not understand where this comes from since most people tend to look into a game before buying it. I understand the need to mod the game, I do it myself, but I cannot fathom why to change it completely to fit another type of game altogether when it was never meant to be like that other game from the beginning. Both games are good, and being alike would just, IMO, lessen each. Anyway, this is just my rant, and I wanted to see if others felt like I do, or if I am in a minority opinion here.

Considering they are asking for something that isn't at all likely to be made and some of those things probably can't be done, I don't let it bother me in the slightest. Even if it were made and posted as a mod I still have the option not to use it while those who would use it may freely do so with no harm whatsoever to my game. So since it wouldn't affect my game in any way, why would I even care? It's a DILLIGAF ;D

RB,

very true, and I agree completely. I just remember this back when I made some mods for KOTOR, and saw similar type requests for making it like Jedi Outcast. It just seems strange to me that the requests are even made in the first place. Just odd that some are made without accepting that each game is different, and enjoy the differences. My favorite games are the Half-Life games, yet I have no desire to make them like Oblivion or DA. I just have options to play whatever game in the setting they are presented with. With some tweaks to make them a little more fun. (Alyx needed more expansion in HL)

It's absurd if you ask me. They are completely and totally different types of games. It's insanely hard to turn an area load game into an open world simply because you would need to put every single area into the same map. Then you would need to script a ton of things such as the traveling merchant who shows up from time to time in a random encounter. Roving random dark spawn, guards. Sure you could put the cities into their own areas but you would need to set it so that it wasn't going to a world map but would be an area transition like traveling from outside of Orzammar into it. Basically it wouldn't just be some few month little adventure into modding but would actually be a few years worth of a project (With a full team)

 Well it could have been worse. I think people need to understand a thing or two about programing before making request as absurd as that. They must understand that it is just couldn't be done unless someone pulls a morroblivion and bring DA to Oblivion but that would never happen in a million years, not to mention the banning they get if they use Nexus to distribute it. People must also know that we are human not robots and can't make things such as that but what are you going to do?

From what I see, this was a indirect with my other post I asked to change the gameplay, but it is so wrong and disturbing just ask if existed or no , sorry for that, I just did not know that others had also asked (I've seen mod so weird that I thought could have, who knows), but I think it did not cost anything just tell it was not possible, it was asking too much?

Anyway, I just wanted to play the game without point-click, I find so boring to play like that, and I was just curious because of the story, after all, Bioware has always made games with great stories like Mass Effect, but since can not really be playing without point-click ,que se foda ,I go play another game so.

No it's not, there are about 20some odd requests over the past few months, and to be honest I did not even see yours until just now. This has been something of a pattern I have noticed especially in the past month that has been nagging at me. Don't take it as a personal attack, just me trying to wrap my head on the logic behind it. Like I said in the second post, this isn't the first game I have come across this on, and just don't understand the reasoning behind it.

Go look for a decent action RPG. Bioware released a game called "Jade Empire" which is an action styled RPG (You control your own attacks). It's not an open world and each different location requires you to go through a loading screen, but attacking is done in an action style and not "Point and Click" as you imply dragon age is.

Me personally I'm getting fed up with a lot of the repetition in general. I mean, I have to try VERY HARD to be civil every time I see one of those requests for mods that allows more party members. I mean, seriously! If we knew how, we'd have it by now!

Or the constant "I cant get mods to load, I searched, but didnt find it". First off, crap. If they HAD searched, they WOULD have found it because Rusty, Thandal, and myself answer at least 3 of those a month.

Anyway, OT. A lot of people dont understand that games are made differently, and that there are massive differences between some of the game engines. Some are very easy to work with modification wise (such as morrowind and oblivion). Others (like DA) really aren't.

Actually, working with DA is an effort in extreme frustration sometimes!
