Is it me?

You're right DWolf, maybe we should have stickies stating to search around the forums before making any requests. And one for necroposting as well, I hate it when they revive dead thread and try to prove their point. It's frustrating and a waste of time.

The problem with that is that a majority of people would rather have other people do the research and looking for them. They are what we call sheep. Others of us take our time to go out and learn something so that we could do it ourselves and occasionally explain to sheep what they are supposed to do by prodding them with a large Shillelagh stick. Unfortunately when we get fed up with the blasted sheep grazing around continuing to do what they always do we try to beat them with the Shillelagh and get called assholes.

I have always wondered why no such thing exists here. I guess common sense is assumed

BKE- the necroposting I dont mind so much when they are asking for help. Because it shows that they did actually search, and that they've read thru some of the stuff to try to get help. I know that the natural bodies thread over in one of the help sections gets rez'd a lot. And that one I dont really mind, as it's a very long read.

And some of those dead threads I use as reference material so when new issues come up in one of those threads, its cool, cause it's all in one spot and saves me from hunting thru more bookmarks (OMG I have soooo many DA Bookmarks!!!).

Lancelot- that's very true in the majority of cases. VERY true. Now, the nexus forums however.... I am by no means griping, but our search function here could definitely use an upgrade or two. I'm NOT complaining, as I know NOTHING about scripting and coding such a thing for forums. But I can imagine that it's no simple task. Not to mention that Dark0ne has a huge amount of work on his plate just keeping all these forums running as well as they do.

That and well.... I've had to use the search function to try to find an old thread now and then. Some of them get lost in the shuffle because it limits my search to the most recent 200-300 posts. Being older than that, I cant find them cause it wont let me :(

But yeah, some of the folks are just lazy. I mean, some of the stuff that they ask about I can find on google on the first page. Sometimes I have to hunt thru 1-3 pages, but some of the stuff isnt that hard to find. I dunno. Maybe its because as a tech, in my field we have to be fairly self seficient. If we dont know it, we have to research it. Because we cant sit there and hog away at the boss' time constantly with questions, cause they dont have the time for it.

Rusty- A friend of mine requested quite a while back to have one of her tutorials on how to do a chargenmorphcfg.xml file edit to be stickied (this was before Terra_Ex released his program for doing it). And the official response was that they would rather have people write them up as articles as it makes it easier to find, and that people just ignore stickies.

Myself, I didnt really agree with it, but hey.... I'm not in charge around here. Dark0ne can run his boards as he sees fit ;)

I do however wonder what the response would be, if somebody were to post a poll over in the appopriate section of the nexus and the consensus was that we'd like to have stickies.

I want stickies that POINT to the articles, with embedded links to take the reader straight to the one in question!

Vagrant0 has already started a thread that provides an outline of such a sticky post, and asked for help in getting it fleshed-out. Great idea! And we (those of us who get tired of / are complaining about answering the same queries over and over) should help with that. (At least it would cut down on the number of DA Favorites we'd need to keep on our own browsers! )

Let me see now... It was right over... No, not there. [uses Nexus search utility] Ummm... Can I get back to you on that?

If it is for help I understand but you don't want to bring back a dead thread just for you to say that you're right and that guy's wrong, this happens especially in the spoiler section. That's what makes me tick badly, the fact that there are some people who think that they are superior and voice their opinion is right without any basis to back their claim up. I'm not saying that they have no right for an opinion (they do btw) but I like if they have some sort of evidence to back up their claims, not just their thoughts. Is it really too much to ask?
