Looking to gather a team for a dungeon mod

I suppose the thread title is explanatory enough, but I guess I should elaborate. I've done a couple little mods, mostly for myself, nothing special. A house, some books, little things. But with Morrowind, I'd made a dungeon once. It ended up being quite fun, though it was my own so maybe I'm a little biased. To the point though, I'd love to craft a dungeon for Oblivion. This would be my first true mod, and I want to start with something great.

So what's my idea? I've been playing around with the concept of an underground Ayleid lost city (not very creative, I know, but it gets deeper). However, a few levels down through the city, you encounter survivors from an old excavation team. They seem a little off, a little weird. Harmless though. Once you've rested up here and proceed deeper into the city, things begin to change. The ground, the walls, everything around is slowly being corrupted by what appears to be some Daedric force. The further you descend, the more twisted the dungeon becomes.

Eventually, at the bottom of the dungeon, you're no longer even in Mundus. Somehow, you're in Oblivion itself. With the Dragonfires no longer lit, the barrier between Oblivion and Mundus no longer exists, and whichever Daedra is here, has managed to directly connect Oblivion to Mundus.

They are still separate dimensions however, so something must anchor this plane of Oblivion to Mundus. Proceeding deeper into the dungeon, there is an "avatar" of a Daedric Prince (which one, I am not yet sure. They can all plausibly fit this, there is no good or evil Prince). A mortal being that represents the Prince himself or herself.

Once the avatar is defeated, the way to the sigil stone is opened, and with the sigil stone removed, the Oblivion plane disconnects from Mundus.

Of course, the people in the city above are not pleased. Turns out they helped this Prince anchor the plane of Oblivion to Mundus. After defeating them, there will be some kind of Daedric arftifact as a reward.

Now that the idea of the mod is laid out, all I want to do to go about creating it, is work with a team. I'm not asking people to make the mod for me. I want to become better at creating mods, and simply having people create mods for me isn't going to make me any better. I want to work with other modders to create this, learn from them, and learn from the work we do on the mod.

As for specifics in creating it, there's only one real goal I want to go for. I want to make as much of the mod as possible using just vanilla Oblivion. The more accessible the mod is, the better. Certainly, I won't be opposed to a few custom textures and the like, but I want to design this for Oblivion as it is.

I know it may sound like a large project, and perhaps it is. But it can't hurt for me to try. If you never try, nothing will ever get done. If nothing gets done, but at least you tried, then you don't have to spend time wondering if it could've happened.

So that's that then. Hopefully that's enough information and if it's not, I sincerely apologize. This is my first time posting here at all. If there is something crucial I did miss out on, please do not hesitate to point it out.

As for contacting me, simply responding to this thread will do, or if you prefer you may email me at [email protected]

Thanks for at least reading all of this (if you got this far, you read it all) :P

So to define the situation better:

Which part of the mod do you plan to do and which parts are you planning to have other people to do?

What modding skills do you have and what are the modding skills you are looking for in team members?

How many levels will the dungeon have?

What is the expected completion date?

I planned to do the writing for any books and dialogue. Perhaps not necessarily script either one, but to write what a book will say or an NPC will say. I won't lie, I'm a much better writer than I am a modder. But I would also be able to draw out plans for the dungeon levels, and put together one or two of the levels (laying out the meshes and objects, not including NPCs and creatures, etc)

What I'm mostly looking for, I suppose, is level designers (I use that vaguely, essentially, someone who can also assemble the dungeon itself), scripters (although nothing fancy is needed here, scripting is beyond my skill), and perhaps someone to work with textures, but that's not really necessary.

If I had enough people, I'd likely dedicate some people to assemble the dungeon itself, some people to create the NPCs and creatures, some people to do the scripting.

How many levels will it have? I'd like it to be a fairly long dungeon, quite expansive. But I was planning to do 2 levels and then when you reach the level with the survivors, that's kind of a "rest" zone, perhaps a teleporter can be activated there or something, so you can leave and return later. After that, 2 or 3 more levels.

I can't say what the expected completion date is. All depends how many people are working on the mod. Alone, it could easily take months, but with 3 or 4 people, perhaps not even a single month.

Having thought about it, I would also not turn down people who were interested in performing voice acting, although I'm sure such people are few and far between. And the issue there is the quality of the acting (no offense to anyone of course, but we're not professional actors) and quality of the recording.

Still, if one could overcome those hurdles it'd be welcome certainly.

Hey guys, bit of a noob here..

Just starting out in the modding community, wanting to end up writing for full games, but thought this would be a great place to start.

You've clearly got the writing side of it handled, but I wouldn't mind trying out for the voice acting. Seeing some sample lines and sending my recordings back would count as an audition, right?

I also freelance graphic design (portfolio here) if you want any banners or anything to advertise the mod once it's done.

No charge for either, of course.

Lemme know if you're interested;
