Pushkatu
It's indeed sad. I live far away from there, but the shock was felt hard even here. I saw a very big pain on every american's face that day on TV. It's hard to imagine how it's like, but I know it's something that should never repeat. HellsMaster
well.. this is a very, very delicate topic right here and i got the feeling that its going to start a flame war. anyhow. My feelings about this is, well, kinda of not good. For people like us, muslim, where severly banded together as "terrorist" where in fact "we" had nothing to do with it...i understand that many people where, and still are, upset, but one should let grief cloud their judgemant. After quite some had gone by and the situation had reverted nearly to normal, investigations where made, where it revealed that no terrorist where part of this scheme. It is true that Ousama did take credits for those actions ( even though he himself works[used to] right into the pocket of the American Government), but if you look around youtube and the web, you will see that terrorist had nothing to do with it, nor muslim had. You will see what they where trying to do is fuel the hatred toward muslim of the people to push them into irrational act and to get their means. If you are indeed going to seek out the truth i suggest using Yahoo, for google hides many website that they dont want people to see. Also, i hope people are not going to flame after this.I am just an educated person, whom life thought me that one must look outside the appearences, for appearenced are really deceptive.. Balagor
I too remember it, watched it all on TV, and may all their souls rest in peace, and may the wounds heal one day on the ones left behind. With that said, I also remember a new era, when hate between two cultures increased. All over EU securety was inforced, specially in aerports with incoming traffic from muslim countries. Here in DK some foolish journalists even started some propaganda, and created the infamous "Muhammed drawings" All this went totally out of controle, untill a website was established, where western people could speak to muslims, and apology for the insult of their religion. I was one of them.9/11 was nearly becomming a milestone for a new era of splitting up people within culture and religion. If that happend, all those who died on that day, died even more in vain. We must never listen to the false preachers, and get splitted. Only together can we diminish that evil that threadens us all.
Kazakovich
I remember indeed. I was elven at the time (I think). It was just another day as usual. Go to school, lessons, play with friends, lessons, go home. I only found out when I heard about in on the radio dad had turned on in the kitchen. I was very interested in architechure as a kid and I knew alot about those towers, and would very much have liked to see them. So I knew right away that this was serious. Aside from that, I remember seeing the gigantic clouds of dust on television over Manhattan on BBC World.I also remember the spike in general racism that followed. My school had a very mixed amount of students, and many of them were muslim, including many of my friends. For a brief time, there was people shouting, throwing things and kiosks and the like burned down. Of course, how much of that was true is hard to say with rumours and all, but there's no doubt there was alot of recentment around that first few weeks. None of us sided with the terrorists. Our unified standpoint was clear; killing is wrong, and no matter who you are or which religion you have, you should never kill. Looking back, I find children to often be wiser than adults. And then the weeks passed, the wars broke out, Bin Laden got away, the Iraqi refugees began arriving, there were lost relatives, the images of Saddam Hussein's monuments being torn down... Once more looking back, I find it interesting how the global war on terror managed to cause ripples that shook even the stagnant waters of suburban Gothenburg. For us that grew up with the nine eleven attacks and the subsequent wars, I think we have sort of accepted potentional terrorism as a part of everyday life. There's an equal chance that forgotten bag could contain a bomb or some old underwear. The terrorists could be anywhere, and they will never go away. But most of us, I believe, also grew up with the knowledge that one solitary terrorist does not make a good representative of whatever he claims he is. Keanumoreira
its no problem Granny.. somebody just should lock this thread before some things which shouldnt be said are said. You have the authors agreement. The point was to keep the memory alive. But a flame war isn't worth our time.
