Thor.
Yea i know long description, but i had a Brain storm for a great idea for a mod that would make custom Characters soooo much easier. Possibly removing that difference in head and body colour. As the titles says, is it possible to make a custom slider for the head textures alone, and leave the body textures sliders. I don't know how many times this has been requested or even possible, it would be a for sure endorsement and kudos for anyone who pulls it off    . I wasn't the only one who agreed to the idea, lots of people in chat thought it would be a great idea. So i posted it here. yea i know i spelled Character wrong.. Edited September 13, 2010 by Thor. LFact
It's more likely Facegen SDK and game engine issue; it may not be something ordinary modders can take.(Like there's no 'independantly moving face slider' mod yet)
Thor.
Could it be done though??? If someone was dedicated enough??
theRoadstroker
Actually this could be done very easily (in theory) There is no need to do something as complicated as altering the facegen, all you really need to do is go to : Oblivion\Data\meshes\characters\_male And open these meshes with nifscope: upperbody.niffemaleupperbody.niflowerbody.niffemalelowerbody.nifhand.niffemalehand.niffoot.niffemalefoot.nif and change their materialproperties from "skin" to something else - IE: "noskin" by doing this you will prevent the game from loading the special facegen texture palette on your mesh. However by doing this you can only change the skin tone by altering the texture inside a image editing software.

I'd rather disable Facegen textures by editing Oblivion.ini than mess with body meshes.
theRoadstroker
Edit the .ini can destroy more then edit some simple nif files. But whatever floats your boat... people who don't feel like messing with the .ini can follow what I suggested.
