Raggamuffin
Hi, I changed uGridstoLoad and that edited and worked fine. But I tried with the rendering grass and it's having no effect at all. This is very frustrating as, even on highest graphic settings, grass is popping up about 10 meters in front of my character. Any ideas on why one change works and the other doesn't? I edited the file in my Oblivion core folder and the one in my Documents. neither is having any effect on the grass load and fade. LFact
I do not recommend to edit Oblivion_default.ini, for it is template for generating Oblivion.ini(in worst case, you need to reinstall the whole game because of just one file...). If you can use OBSE, there's some OBSE plugin that extends grass rendering distance...
Raggamuffin
Downloaded that mod and now it's broken my screen. Even though the games at my native resolution it's zoomed in so I can only see the top left corner of what's displayed. I was using OBSE anyway, are the other mods which change the draw distances? bben46
There are TWO Oblivion ini files. DO NOT edit the one in the Oblivion game folder. :pinch:The other one is typically located in (based on Win7) C:\Users\your user name\My documents\My games\OblivionBefore making any changes - make a backup - copy it to a new file with a slightly different name - such as OriginalOblivion.iniThen make your changes to the Oblivion.ini there - this is the one that is automatically created the first time you start the game and is the one Oblivion will use when you play. It is different from the one in the game folder - as that one is used to create the ini using your hardware.
Raggamuffin
Yarp, did that. As stated above. It worked with grids to load but had no effect on the grass rendering. Any ideas? Ed
Raggamuffin
OBSE opens the Oblivion launcher. When I edited ini before it did the auto video quality settings test. So I then reset it to ultra and 2560 x 1600. Went back into the ini file and changed the grass distances. Saved and clicked play on the launcher and it worked. Closed the game and reopened it and for some reason the grass settings have stuck. This is quite odd as I'm not sure entirely what changed as I simply repeated steps I'd done before. This happened with Skyrim ini as well. it never responded to my inputs and saves and then one time just decided to work....Bizarre. Could chalk it up to a fluke but i'd prefer to know exactly what happened to fix it. Ed
