CTD when NPC uses a destruction spell against me

Hello everyone :)

 

I recently installed oblivion on my system and naturally was eager to mod it. I really liked the look of Dark ULd Darn and the XP leveling mods so i downloaded Oblivion mod manger and OBSE as they were both required. The two mods themselves are installed correctly and working fine. I use the OBSE loader to load the game up so the XP leveling mod works but my game crashes to the desktop when an NPC uses a destruction spell against me. I just installed the latest unofficial oblivion patch but to no avail did it solve the problem. I'm currently in Fort Nikel and the bandits and mauraders are fighting each other but whenever a mage casts a fireball/lighting spell against me my game crashes to the desktop. Any thoughts on what the problem is? I have tried setting the compatibilty mode to windows XP service pack 3 but it didn't help. Still crashing i'm afraid :( Its when ever a fire ball or lightning is used against me the game just crashes, maybe a file or something has been corrupted?

 

Hm, possible I guess. Could be a bad mod also. This happens only when a Fireball is used against you, not when You are using Fireballs?

Maybe the race mod could cause this, not sure. Could even be a Driver Problem, make sure you have the newest ones for Sound and Video.

You might also consider installing Wrye Bash and create a bashed Patch with it. This solves a lot of Problems. It will involve a bit of reading but it is really worth it.

This is going to sound really weird but it works ok at the moment. I changed the lighting from bloom to HDR and that seemed to sort it for a while and then it started happening again later on so i tryed the boss program you told me about (Found out it was the windows 7 UAC restricting it) and it sorted the load order which stopped the crash when the necromancers used fire and lighting against me. In answer of your question it is only when a destruction spell is used against me and i can use spells fine. It seems ok for now so what i will do is test the game further and if there are no more issues then all's good but if not then i will give this Wrye Bash a go, thank you veryn much for your help :)
