Does to many Items in one place cause crashes

Hi all

 

Does to many Items in one place cause crashes?

 

I think I have been a bit of a lazy foolish player. I have just been piling all my loot in to one or to containers and not bothing to sell it, figuring ill sell it all later.

Any way There must be 1000's and 1000's of items in all but a few containers now and any time I try to take them out and sell them the game crashes. because I did not

suffer many crashes untill now, Can I assume that it is because I have overloaded the area with stupid amounts of items in just a handfull of containers?

yes it can....at least in my experience though I can not say exactly why. Maybe the game can't process and load that much information without having its brain explode. If you don't have it all in one chest...I would suggest moving the chest elsewhere. If you do..then go in the CS and separate it into several chest and place them in ohter easy to get to places.

 

This may NOT be your only crashing issue...but this should help I would think.

But it dose not work, because I have some how totaly destroyed the character. my other Characters are fine, because I did not pile all items in to a few containers with any other character. I have gone through my old saves of the problem character and for some reason the problem has infected all old save's of it. the issue has spread

From the location of the overloaded containers and now the maps for this character are starting to lose location icons.

I can no longer play this character for more than five minutes at a time with out a crash.

I am so glad this is only a character save issue or I would be pulling my hair out about now. Pitty though because I liked that character and had played her up to lvl 35.

Also a pitty that it has effected all that characters older saves. I do not know why.

The lesson here is don't horde 1000's of Items in one container. But I think the biggest mistake was that I had a rubbish Item container. When ever I opened a stash wile playing I would take all. not only that I was playing a thieving git that would tall any thing not nailed down no matter the value, when I got back to base I would drop all 0 value Items and low value Items of 1 - 2 gold in to the rubish container and forget about them and because I was not bothering to check to see if I wanted the items untill I got back to base, I think almost every 0 value Item and low value Item that I had come across from lvl 5 -35 was in one container. I have not done this with any other character thank goodness and no other character is suffering in this way.

 

Just so no one has to get in to any trouble for telling me what an idiot I am I will do it for you all.
