haloblivion
Hello.I was wandering if there is any demand for a Total Conversion in which the community of this forum can input what they want to see in the mod. So if anyone has an idea for a quest, or city/town, etc. People can post on the topic page and if their idea is well structured and thought-out, it would be put into the mod. All this topic is for is seeing if their is demand. If you like the idea post on the poll. DO NOT post ideas on this topic, it is not what it is for. Thanks for polling, in advance. Ferryt
We've already got at least one superb total conversion (Nehrim), so it can be done. I've beaten the main quest and all primary quests, except for Shivering Isles. I think I'd be open for the possibility of a total conversion as long as it offered something new and unique that can't simply be added to Oblivion. More is better -- as long as the quality is good, and the people who did Nehrim have proven that it can be done even better than Bethesda did it, using the same tools that were used to create Oblivion. I'd want to see new, unique monsters. I'd want to see quests that aren't just recycled ideas from Oblivion. Mostly, I'd like to see a total conversion that really stressed the idea of role-playing and immersion, as opposed to merely following a scripted, linear storyline to make me the hero of the entire world (I'm done with world-saving, to be honest -- I probably won't be doing the Oblivion main quest again and while I did it, I think the idea of being able to become the head honcho of every guild is ludicrous). So, yes ... make something that's NOT just another "Oblivion" or "Morrowind" and I'd be interested.
haloblivion
Well, its content would depend on what the people of the Nexus Forums could come up with. So, that should mean there are lots of very different ideas. Ergo, it wouldn't be the same as Oblivion or Morrowind. But I agree, a mod that is just another Morrowind or Oblivion would be pointless. P.S. I have tried Nehrim and that mod is excellent. If only it had English voice acting.
ub3rman123
My opinion: Wait for ES5. It's just a bit too late for Oblivion to start a total conversion. I hate to be a naysayer and insist the community is dead for it (Nowhere near), but most people will have moved on by the time your TC is done. Take this time, and you can plan out what you want to do in an ES5 TC. You don't even need to wait for the game to plan, as a TC changes everything. haloblivion
Yeah. You are probably right. But we don't know how long it will take for ES5 to come out (if they're making one). If only Bethesda would ANNOUNCE it. But I agree, the planning stage is most important and that should keep me occupied for a while. Still need a bit more demand for this mod though before I start anything.
David Brasher
I like the idea of mods with dungeons, quests, and adventures. The more the merrier. But total conversions tend to fail. You are going to need to find yourself about 20 expert modders highly dedicated to the project for months on end. I think you will be lucky to find two or three such modders. And then TES 5 might come out and people will lose interest in Oblivion. Why don't you devote your efforts to small dungeons, quests, and adventures rather than rebuilding everything? haloblivion
Yeah. Okay so the planning could still go ahead. Because, as mentioned above, a TC changes everything. And it could be made as the first TC for ES5.
