Save number resets after restarting.

Now that's one strange issue : my save number always returns to 1 if I quit the game. Basically, what happens is the following :

• I play and save normally. Let's say that my save reaches number 7 (example).

• I quit the game.

• I launch the game, the save number is still 7.

• I save the game on the same save file, and then it's renamed to save number 1.

It's not a big deal but it's always great to have the exact save number, just to have an idea. You know.
This happened since the very beginning. My only mods installed are Qarl textures, OCO 2, Enhanced Water and the Unofficial Patch.

I also use OBSE and the plugin Blockhead.

Any ideas to fix this ? ^^

Are you saying when you save to a new slot after loading save 7 the new save is named save 1 or are you saying when you overwrite save 7 the now overwritten save is named save 1?

Yes, this happens when I overwrite a save. But this also happens if I save on a new slot.

Is it reporting all the other info OK (e.g. hours played, location etc)?

No, only the number changes, everything else is OK ! :p

When you exit the game does it exit cleanly to the desktop or does it do the good old CTD "Oblivion has stopped working" type exit?

Most of the time it quits cleanly but somtimes I have the message.

All the time.

Hmm ... it's like the game thinks you've started a new game when you've actually loaded a save. And this is happening when you are starting the game from the desktop (i.e. not loading the save from when you are already in the game, like after dying for example)?
