IodoXX
Whenever i try to use a MOD on oblivion, nothing appears in my data files. I've downloaded it then extracted it, copy the files into my Oblivion data folder but nothing appears under the data files on the launcher =(
Hickory
That's because you have Win7/Vista and you have installed Oblivion to the protected 'Program Files' folder structure (default), and Windows pushes your data files to a virtual store. Your best bet is to uninstall Oblivion and reinstall outside of Program Files -- somewhere like C:\Games\Oblivion .
TheStrike1k0
yet, i use Win7, i use the programs folder and i run tons of mods. i will edit thus post with info on how to share the programs files so that you can modify them. -----------------------------------------EDIT--------------------------------------- Ok, simple, right-click any folder and choose Read-Only Thus it should work. But I haven't tried installing at Program Files(x86) - this is default installation path.
Hickory
Then take a look in the virtual store: %LocalAppData%\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Oblivion\Data\
TheStrike1k0
ok, figured out another problem that may occur while running Obmm, it happened to my friend with Fomm, and what you need to do is turn OFF uac, i forgot myn was turned off, so thats why i have no troubles. bben46
Turning UAC off leaves a back door open for virus to get in. The first thing a Trojan usually does when you manage to get one is to attempt to make a change in the program files folders to allow its virus to block your antivirus program so it will have full control. UAC prevents this. BEST solution - install the game outside of the program files folders - I use C:\Games\Oblivion. and C:\Games\Fallout3. For steam, you will need to reinstall the steam client outside of the program files folders C:\Games\Steam works for me - all steam games will then be outside of the extra protection of UAC Second best. Just unprotect the game only while leaving it in the program files folder. This will work until MS makes another update that changes something relating to UAC and protects it again. Worst - turn off UAC
TheStrike1k0
and yet, me and all my frinds, family, everyone i know have UAC turned off :l Trojans cn't get through because it' called a decent AV :D Easy: Turn off UACHard: Remember to install every thing in C\:\games

Ferryt
What bben46 says, guys. I'm running Oblivion on Vista and I'm something of a security/privacy nut. As much as I hate UAC this is your first line of defense and it should never be disabled except in the case of machines that are not connected to the Internet, even indirectly through a LAN, and on which you never install software that you can't personally attest to being clean. When I first played Oblivion I made the mistake of just choosing the default install location. Even with UAC turned off after that, I ran into difficulties, and wound up having to uninstall it and re-install elsewhere. Now ... no such problems and I can leave UAC on. TheStrike1k0, you're playing with fire. Trust me. I know enough about hacking to know that there are ways of thwarting even the best anti-virus software. You might not have been bitten yet (or maybe you have and you just can't tell), but it's not a matter if if ... is simply a matter of when. Your lack of concern is your worst weakness and the hackers' greatest strength.
