Mythic Dawn NPCs

First note: I'm un-patched, so I don't know if this was fixed by Bethesda in an update (if you can really call it a bug in the first place).

It was more a conventional attack that turned into the Mythic Dawn suicide run. She went after me with her Iron Sword for the first swing or two, then conjured up the MD kit and began fighting with that. Battle cry and all. Passersby and guards came to my aid, as expected.

I reloaded and repeated the instance. Every time I got her Disposition to 0, she would attack.

I was able to repeat the thing with Eugal Belette, though it took three bottles of Cheap Wine and a drawn sword in order to knock his initially high Disposition down far enough to unlock the Persuasion. In this case, Eugal not only attacked me, his first shot was a preemptive strike at a Chorrol Guard who was behind him!

I was unable to incite Ulen Athram, mainly because his Dispo was at 100 and drawing my weapon failed to budge even that.

This is beginning to feel a little like Blade Runner, and I'm running Voight-Kampf tests on folks to see if I could disturb them far enough to reveal their unstable natures. After all, in the Persuasion minigame...

"...response time is a factor here..."

Cingorn has never attacked me on any of the 5 characters I have.

If any of those were in the fighter's guild, be glad. Killing him (self-defense or not) will get you suspended by the fighter's guild. Unless you use the unofficial oblivion patch...

They all are, and I am not in Leyawin very often either.

This "attack at Low Disposition" thing may not be limited to Mythic Dawn NPCs, though every MD NPC I've managed to taunt did attack (this list includes those agents in Chorrol, Cheydinhal, Skingrad, and Anvil).

Ontus Vanin, the retired Arcane University dude in the white bathrobe, attacked my character with low disposition. It was a freak incident: I whipped out this Staff of Telekinesis I just bought at Rindir's for a test run, and Vanin was in the Market District. He went nuts and started a general melee in the market. I reloaded and found out the man had a Disposition of 7 at that time— when my character wielded the weapon, that automatically went to 0. I brought that Disposition down again with Persuasion, and he attacked yet again.

At the time, my character had completed both the Thieves' Guild and Mages' Guild questlines, so I don't know if he was pissed because I broke into his house or because I replaced his favorite Arch-Mage at the University. Maybe he was a closet Necromancer and wanted to avenge Mannimarco. ;)

You're right the attacks at low disposition are not limited to Mythic Dawn npc's. I'm not sure what is the difference between some of the people i'm able to taunt into attacking (which is great!) and the ones I can't. Responsibility, Confidence, and Aggression. One of them should be related to it. Maybe some npc's have a higher aggression (but still low enough not to attack on sight) and for that reason will attack you when your disposition towards her is low?

I wonder if Vanin's aggression is ramped up as a part of the Thieves' Guild quest. Since I never actually failed that quest, I don't know how he was going to respond if he caught you in his house.

In other words, does the "Attack when I hate you" aspect only apply to characters who are, at some point in time, supposed to become aggressive under certain quests?

With my next character, I'm going to have to test this out on Agarmir.
