Run a Courier Service (or the Mojave Express)

Could it be possible to have a mod where the courier can create their own mail service hire other couriers or possibly take over the Mojave Express?

 

If I missed something similar to this please point me in the right direction. I feel that I played most mods where the player can run an operation and do something neat in New Vegas.

Sounds great, any ideas for how would it work? Johnson Nash owns the Primm branch, maybe you'd have to buy it from him or enter in to a partnership. I suppose you would need some quests to hire more couriers as well as the option to do the deliveries yourself. I think expanding the company would be a good idea, i.e. more dropboxes. I'd put one in Jacobstown, Sloan, North Vegas Square, Westside etc... There could be other jobs to help it run smoother, maybe taking out the deathclaws in Quarry Junction to free up the road or taking out raiders or something.

 

It would be cool if a box/safe could be added that gives you a certain amount of caps per week, depending on your barter skill and how much you have done to build up the business. For example if you just take over and don't do any of the other quests, you would get 500 caps, but if you do all of the quests you could get 1500 caps.

I like where you're going with that so true too if you want the caps you have to get them. And certain obstacles would need to be cleared for the trails or routes to be open and more effective. You're right any town or settlment with a significant population should have a route going to it.

 

As for starting everything. I think it would be wise to have the quest or mod start upon the chip being delivered to house (after the player get's paid for the delivery and are able to walk away from House after his demonstration and all that). After all the point was the deliver the chip to house so doing that should be really apealing to Nash and or other people. You get shot in the head ... and still make the delivery. Should go a long way.

 

I think extra caps should be made on the drop boxes and certain quests can be done by the player that would be very challenging. Maybe a goul needs a message sent to some loved ones or friends on the other side of New Vegas. The goul can't make the trip and they'd trust the player and only the player to carry out the message.

 

If the player is trusted by a certain faction perhaps they can do special runs for that faction (say NCR) for some extra caps and rep points towards that faction. (One of those we don't have enough people to do this but we trust you enough to do it for us type thing)

 

Some runs can be action packed and others can be straight forward.

 

Note: This is just me brainstorming so feel free to let me know what can and can't be done.

 

 

 

Maybe with some scripting know-how certain features can be implemented like the finacial clip board can have a display of caps spent/ caps earned.

 

Ham Radio can get you in touch with another branch so you can make needed adjustments and or send and recieve messages to be delivered. (Perhaps a quest can be done to repair some radio towers so they can work. Improve the time it takes for messages to be sent and delievered)

 

The type writter Or computer terminal can be used to make adjustments as well (hire/fire people. Create a contract that has to be handed to the right person in a town to allow a drop box to be set up or a Mojave Express to be set up.

 

Contracts ... basically the token that certain mods use. Like the J3X Motorcyle Ride Companion Token. If the item is equipted it allows them to ride either on the same bike with the player or on their own bike.

 

So the contract is just an apperal item that if accpeted by the right NPC will allow things to take place.
