Well, im thinking of picking up Oblivion again, and im more of a merchant than a hero, so i'd like to make money, investments and forth. So im wondering if anyone could give me a Step by Step guide, or atleast a few tips on the shaping of a store. I'd like it to be a store with plenty of choice. :-) I do know how to do the basics, create new NPC's , Build the store, but there are some things i'v forgotten, like the AI , routes etc. :-)

What you are doing is quite rare and unusual, so I do not expect that there are any step-by-step guides. Much of what would be required would depend on your design parameters. You may wish to provide more data on how your store will work, what the challenge will be, what actions you will have to perform, etc.

Like if you have a bunch of NPCs who come to shop at your store and spend their money, that is going to get pretty complicated. You will need lots of scripting. You will need lots of AI packages, and with the other things you might do, you would need quests and dialog.

Do "routes" refer to directory paths? Or do "routes" refer to path-gridding?

Your mod would be sort of a refreshing change from crawling around in dark holes killing everything.

I'd love this mod so I'll give some ideas, don't know how to make them but an idea is an idea eh?;)

First I thought of the investment option for experts in mercantile in the vanilla Oblivion game, but arent investments made to bring you more money? Well they don't, you should change that:) Like if you invest in a store they will get more money like they used to, but you could add more options, like if you are a store that sells ingredients to npc stores you could get some of the profit that make, depending on how large your investment is.

To gather those ingredients you could:

1. Gather them yourself, like make wood chopable, or make more silver and gold ores in the game, and so on....

2. make some 'buyable' servants that could gather them, like you would get 20 Dragon Tounges every day from that particular servant, and the amount you get from him depends on his experiance and how much you pay him, monthly payments? More realism I'd say^^

You could also make a weapon store? here I would prefer the servant option again, so that...Let's say 'Marcus the Weaponsmith' makes 5 axes and 5 swords every day.

making npcs actually comming to your store buying stuff would be hard xD So let's just say you have a stock that gradually vanishes and adds more money depending on how many items you have, the variation of your weapons/armors and how many servants you got working each day.

I know this doesent explain how to do it ( I'm not a modder, just got loads of ideas xD ) But if by any chance you can need them then just present it to some of the known modders here and I'm sure they'll look into it^^ Hope this helps:D
