lgs7
I was thinking of buying a hd5770.Is that card enough to max out metro 2033 on 1280*1024 or even 1920*1080 with dx11?I dont want more than 24-30 fps.Thank you in advance(sorry for my bad english)
Illiad86
I have the 5770...it's a good card...I play all my games at 1920x1200....it played the Crysis single player demo at DX9 high settings 1920x1200 and averaged about 35FPS...which I don't think is all that bad for Crysis :P Oblivion runs average 45FPS outside with QTPIII and 100+ mods :) The only other game I have that's "new" so to say is Tomb Raider Underworld and that game runs flawlessly :D Googling around here...you probably could play Metro 2033 maxed. Optimum system requirements say you need a GTX 480...which is quite a lot faster than a 5770...but the system requirements are never really right in my opinion. I might download the demo here and tell you how it runs on my 3.2GHz dual core, 4GB RAM, and my 5770 :) Will be a little while though, demo is pretty big....2 hours to download if it stays at 400kb/s *sigh* I'll have 5Mb internet next week though ;) What else do you have on your system? A good graphics card is nice, but a fast CPU/4 or more GB of RAM helps even more :) Edited September 26, 2010 by Illiad86
gormonk
good... but not as good as a 5870(slightly less powerfull than my 4870 but its Direct X 11)

Illiad86
and not as good as the 5970 :P Depends on what kinda money the OP wants to spend...5770 is pretty reasonably priced for what you get out of it :) 20% done on the demo...lol this is going to take forever... I'll see how it runs on with the settings you provided. I cannot run DX11 though, I'm still on XP (think I'll ask for Windows 7 for Xmas :D) :P I run my games with 4xAA, 8xAF, 1920x1200...but I'll put it at 1920x1080...most monitors have that as their native resolution nowadays  Rare to find a monitor like mine these days lol I haven't played FO3 since I had my old 7950GT, and it ran very good on that card maxed. So, I'm sure it runs very well on this card. Don't own the game anymore though... The GTX460 is pretty much like the 5770, it's a bit faster, but the price is about double. Nvidia's stuff is a bit better, but you do pay for it. If you want to get the 5830, that would be nice. The core clock is the same as my card, but it has more stream processors...and it's not too badly priced I see :) ahh 40% now lol FilePlanet is actually being nice for once :P Should be done within the hour :) Edited September 26, 2010 by Illiad86
lgs7
I aint gonna pay the money for the card that i am going to choose...I am from greece so stuff here is more expensive...I returned to a shop that i bought a hd4870 wich had a problem on the fan,107c on 70% fan.I will change it so for hd5770 i will only pay 21 euros...heheheh:) for 5830 80 euros.now i have a very very very bad 9500gt:(.Pleease post your results! Illiad86
Okies...pretty intense game I must say, graphics are beautiful :) Short demo too...not very scary :P A few screens here. 4xAA, 4xAF, 1920x1080 on the 5770 1GB, 3.2GHz AMD Athlon 64 x2 (dual core), 4GB DDR2 800@ 891MHz, SB XFi XtremeGamer Fata1ity Pro http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/metro20332010-09-2611-37-08-09.jpgsettings, like I said, I don't have DX11 because I'm on XP http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/metro20332010-09-2612-03-06-46.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/metro20332010-09-2611-41-54-51.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/metro20332010-09-2611-38-47-28.jpg http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv200/Illiana86/metro20332010-09-2611-42-04-56.jpg Game runs pretty good...but when there are a lot of creatures and heavy lighting effects about, it does drop to about 15-20FPS. The game is probably more optimized for DX11 (looks like you get more options to fiddle around with too with DX11 so I didn't get to change much) so it will probably run a bit better...and my beast is pretty old...only thing that's new is the graphics card :P It probably would run a bit better if the resolution was down another notch, but not too bad...I'd say it averages 35FPS. But it runs pretty nice :) But if you are only going to pay 80 euros for the 5830, I would get that over the 5770 :) What else do you have in your system? Your processor and RAM? :) Edited September 26, 2010 by Illiad86
lgs7
I have Intel Pentium D925 3.0GHz3gb ram 667mhz110gb hddbut my motherboard only supports pci-e 1.0,i dont know if its 2.0 and 4x(instead of 16x)I will buy new pc on December.I was thinkig of buying a hd5770 and a 500gb hdd.I have the full metro 2033 but i play it on my 9500gt only on 1280x720 with everything on low,not even physX.You think i should buy instead of 5770 a gtx460 768mb or a hd5830?I will use the card that i will get on my new pcThe full game is scary, but if you watch videos of it when you buy it you aint gonna scare. What catalyst did you used? Illiad86
Yeah, the 5830 is better than the 5770, it has more stream processors to process the graphics...plus it's not much more expensive than the 5770. Do you know what your motherboard is? I'm using the latest drivers, I'm always up to date ;) Yeah, a new system would be good hehe, yours is slower than mine by a bit (your RAM is slower, Pentium D is a little slower than my chip). A new system with a quad core AMD or Intel chip, 4 or 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and a 5830 would run it very well I'm sure :) This is just my old beast lol she plays Oblivion like a champ :D I'm happy with her, she plays my games nicely :) I don't upgrade very often...just got new graphics card to be ready for The Witcher 2 and TESV (if it ever comes to be). I don't need to upgrade much...my computer does what I want it to do very well, doesn't matter to me that something could load in 2 seconds instead of 5 lol :P Cool game though, nice effects, haven't tried a "new" game in awhile, not bad at all :)
lgs7
Dont worry about your performance, this game is optimized for nvidia(i am NOT a fanboy)When i am playing,i dont need something extreme,24-30 fps on my resolution. So i will get the hd5830.I know it an amazing game:)If i was buying the hd5770,i should buy the sapphire vaporxmy motherboard is the asrock 775dual-vsta http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=775Dual-vsta this oneI will try to get the 5830:) oh and something more.Is a 400watt psu enough or i should buy a new one?
