Editing Save Game Files

I searched the net for over 2 hours and did not find what I wanted.

 

I want to open a saved game (.ess file) and edit the list the mods in that saved game. I recently merged over 50 mods. When I do a conflict check there are none. I can start new characters just fine. But any previously saved games wont load. The game crashes while loading the saved game. I am guessing its because all those mods listed in the saved games I had previous to meging mods do not exhist anymore. The saves wont even load with only oblivion.esm selected. But I can start new characters. If only I could get into the saved games files and remove the mods list in it I believe the games will load. least I hope so. If not, I'll be moving all those mods back into the /data folder and loading them up.
