samoyed1958
I recently bought dragon age origins and awaking for the PC and got ahold of shale downloadable content. My question is this.. is there another way to get gold without doing the trap glitch over and over again. I don't want to try the console thing for I'm afraid I'll screw my game up.... If you do anything "wrong", they just do nothing at all. You would have to deliberately mistype something by putting in a minus sign ("-100") when you meant to "add 100", or type "Alistair" when you meant "Morrigan", in order to have a console command be "wrong", but still effect the game. DarkeWolf
I'm sorry to argue with you Thandal, but you can cause some very nasty bugs with the console commands. Like the issues with putting the characters on your team that you havent met yet, then not being able to recruit the actual team mates. Like throwing too much gold onto your toon, and then not being able to spend any of it. There's others too, but I just cant think of them. *brainfart* *brainfart* *brainfart* :wallbash: http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Console this page has the full list of commands, decent explanation of them, and the reported bugs associated with them. samoyed- There's other ways of making cash. Usual method is items to sell. HDHD's additem script can be useful in that aspect- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1131 A mod that I've always made a lot of money is the Gifts of Andraste armor. http://www.fileplanet.com/207388/200000/fileinfo/Dragon-Age:-Origins---Gifts-of-Andraste-Armor it respawns every time you reload your game if its not on a character. So just go into camp, sell it to bodahn, or the merchant there in whatever town your in, save the game, restart the game again. Rinse and repeat until you're filthy rich. However, you dont want to put TOO much gold on your character. My advice is not to go over 750,000. because at 999,000 you end up with a bug that will not allow you to buy or sell. Thandal
I'm sorry to argue with you Thandal, but you can cause some very nasty bugs with the console commands...I didn't say that one couldn't break the game with the console commands, I said one couldn't do it "accidently". I thought the OP was worried that just trying to use the console and doing something wrong might cause a problem. (In other words, that they had already found a "give gold" cheat, but were concerned about how to use it. Mistyping a command, leaving out something, getting the syntax backwards, none of that will hurt anything. One would have to have correctly AND deliberately entered something to get it to work at all. If not, no harm done.
RustyBlade
I think many problems with the console arise when the commands are not understood due to them not being defined properly. As an example: runscript setplayerimmortal where someone might try it for a tough battle and not realize the only way to turn it off is to edit their save in the toolset. Also, any of the debug scripts have the potential to cause massive issues later in the game due to the fact that little is defined besides what areas they have an effect on. If we were to use TheMutator's risk scale, the console gets R3.
Thandal
... If we were to use TheMutator's risk scale, the console gets R3.Interesting... I hadn't looked at it that way. (I do like TheMutator's risk scale a lot!) And you're absolutely right that the console commands "grant great power" and "with great power, comes great screw-up potential! :teehee: But I thought the OP had already found: "runscript zz_money X" and was just unsure if even trying it might cause problems. (Oh, and in my response I defiintely should have added "As always, make a SAVE before you run any console command, just in case!" )
