Suspending processes during Oblivion?

So, while my AV is in silent mode, the two largest processes on my PC by far are the Desktop Window Manager and Windows Explorer. They're ~25,000 K each.

I was wondering if it was possible to disable both of these when I start Oblivion, and then have them resume when I close Oblivion.

I ask because I remember doing something similar for the original Starcraft; I had to set up a pseudo-launcher that would stop Windows Explorer while Starcraft was running.

Would something similar be possible with Oblivion? If it is, would the memory gained be worth much? I think it's like 50MB.

Try FREE game booster - it removes quite a few background processes and frees up the ram.

Oblivion will only use a max of 2G of ram. If you have 3G or more, the extra will be used for everything else. A 32 bit operating system can only use a max of 3.12G of ram. A 64 bit system can use much more, but most motherboards are limited to 12 to 16 G

I'm liking it so far, just a few things I'm worried over:

Safety: Not so much if GB carries any malware, but if anything it does has a chance of making it easier for malware and the like to get into my PC.

Defrag feature: Does this have the chance to mess up files in a game? Particularly any mods I may add?

Edit: Should I stick with the beta of GB2, or go to GB 1.5?

The site I recommended for Game Booster is a reliable site where every program is checked before it is allowed. If it had of allowed any malware to get in, there would be comments about it. One trick would be to disable your internet connection before running Game Booster. If your connection is wired, unplug the cable. If wireless, shut it down.

I haven't tried the beta v2 yet.

However, if you want to check a file - or a URL, try this site. It checks a file using multiple antivirus before you download it.

This works for the Nexus also.
