Blue Casscade Estate

Hi everyone,

I've finally decided to start work on my own mod, and it's gonna be a lot of work. Here's what I've got planned for my purist housing mod:

* Purchasable estate house located on the blue road (right around where the name is on the map)

* 10 NPCs to staff your estate, found through quests: Stewardess, maid, groundskeeper, librarian, botanist, winemaker, cook, swordsman, archer, stable hand. Most of them will offer logical services (the winemaker will give you wine, the botanist will sort your alchemy ingredients, the stewardess will manage your staff and suggest housing upgrades.. etc)

* 15 (give or take) purchasable upgrades to your house to bring it from shambles to the estate you've always wanted. Interior and exterior upgrades will be available

* An animal companion to keep you company through thick and thin

* An alchemy garden based on the samples you provide to your botanist .. you gather, he grows

* A fully stocked library based on the books you provide to your librarian .. you gather, he places ;)

* A wandering peddler (whom you purchase your estate from) that will help bring trade to your estate. He *may* purchase stolen goods off you to a max of 200 gold, or so, sell you a handful of lockpicks, and sell your wines in other cities .. if you invest in his store of course. :)

* Workshops to increase your weapon skills, make potions, enchant items, and spellcraft.

* Trophy space for mannequins, display cases, or both .. your choice

What this mod will *not* contain is any uberloot or NPCs with millions of gold. This is just my attempt at a complete place to live that's a little more interesting than the stock purchasable housing.

As you can see, this is going to be a lot of work, so don't expect it tomorrow (or the day after). I have some screenshots available here.

Questions and comments are welcome .. did I miss something in the list of 'must-haves' for housing mods?

I love your Alchemy garden and library ideas.... I wonder how that would work... Im not a scripting guy at all.. :(

Well .. it'll take scripting .. a lot of scripting. ;) I thought about doing one for weapons collectors as well but I don't quite know how well that'll work. There's an awful lot of weapons, and usually the ones people want to display are the named ones .. which is even harder, imho.

Okay .. just a quick update. I've gotten half of the custom ingredient box textures done. eSnips apparently doesn't like my screenshots, and deleted them, so I've moved them to flickr instead. You can find a link here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/blissfullyfemale/sets/72157594236254766/).

Basically, that's eaten up all my time, so I haven't actually added much of anything to the mod yet. After I get all the boxes done, they're going to be added. I also need to fire up blender and figure out how to get those scripts working properly. I tried the tutorial, but I couldn't get it to work, so I had to open nifskope, export them as obj files, and do it that way. Is there an easier way? Unless of course someone wants to edit a few meshes for me. ;) Not likely to happen, neah?

Anyway, that's all for now,
