Hello, I have a pretty old pc which will not run Oblivion which sucks. Is there a way I can get it to run? Mod suggestions and tweaks please.

Specs

============

Processor AMD Sempron Processor 3400+
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 420
Memory 2.2 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition Service Pack 2 (build 6002), 32-bit.

Any advice would be great.

I have zero mods installed it is a fresh install from an old disc goty has all dlc.

It will run with all low specs but stutters to much to be able to play

Minimum specifications are absolute minimum just to get the game to work at all - Without mods.

There used to be a program called OldBlivion that allowed you to run the game with some older video cards that would not run normally - The original website is gone now - and I haven't seen a good link lately. It does require the full Oblivion as well. I wouldn't expect any great graphics or decent FPS. But you might be able to play the base game with a few low impact mods. Forget about OBSE, high resolution or big graphics mods though.

IMO your three main limitations are the cpu, system ram and OS. Vista is not a good gaming OS, if you can upgrade to Win7 or downgrade to XP you'll get some performance back. As for the hardware, you should see better performance with an upgrade to 1GB (preferably 2GB if possible), but it won't be much with that cpu. Just to give a relative example, one of my S478 systems has a 7-series Nvidia AGP that is severely bandwidth limited by the 3.4GHz HT P4 Northwood cpu. A Sempron 3400+ is not much over half that.

For what it costs for a basic (motherboard/cpu/ram) upgrade, not many people are spending time trying to make older systems work.

Also in case you didn't know, if you're willing to forego visual quality you can get a tremendous performance boost by toggling the 'tlb' (Lite Brite) command at a console prompt.
