Murielkai
I am looking for a good mod to change the way experience progresses so I don't have to spend those early levels "training" my character. Any suggestions? I have read on a couple but they seemed to have some serious issues (at least there were lots of posts about problems).
TheMastersSon
I've tried a few mods but they all had undesireable side effects. Eventually I gave up and just saved a game at the point of training experience I wanted, and use it as a starting point for new games. Simple but it works. :)
subtledoctor
Not sure what exactly you're asking - are you talking about the leveling system, or specifically about the rate of skill advancement? For the former, I use the excellent AFLevel mod. Equip the ring of choice after leaving the sewers, let it determine your major skills (should match what you've already chosen) and select "level-up every 9 ability point increases." The end result will mimic the vanilla system if you could put 3 points in selected skills every time. Functionally though, it's miles better. You just go out and adventure, and as you use certain skills they increase; and as the skills attached to certain ability scores improve, those ability scores increase; and after that happens 9 times, you level-up. You don't even have to sleep. You just *play* however you want to, and your skills/abilities/level just sort themselves out. As for the *speed* of skill advancement, I tend to advance way too quickly (but I use mods that quadruple the size of the game). So I use a "3x slower skills" mod to slow my advancement down. In the early game, I tend to uncheck the slower skills mod and quickly train up various skills until I'm as well-rounded as I want to be. Then, around 3rd level at this point, I enable the slower skills mod and start adventuring for real.
dedbranesels
I use "Oblivion XP" mod and love it. Basically it changes the way you gain levels from the constant traing of a skill, and instead makes it more like old school RPG's - where you gain XP from quests, killing enemies, picking locks, etc. No longer will you have to worry about getting the full +5 to 3 attributes at level up, using skills your character would never use, and instead just roleplay your character the way you want to. Also, for the huge Morroblivion mod, there is a "Morroblivion XP" mod to add with the regular one that will keep the XP system the same as you switch lands. Hope that helps. Tharkun1
"Realistic Leveling" works well and can be used with existing save-games. You just play the game andif you find your character is weak in certain areas then you can concentrate your training on the skills youneed. You can do this at any time, no need for "efficient leveling" at the beginning of the game. RL has a nice .ini file with a plenty of configurable parameters--useful if you find your advancing too fast/slow.For me the default settings work ok, the only thing I changed was to use the "require sleep to level up" modebecause I like the idea of having to sleep to level and it fits in logically with the "Basic Primary Needs" modI'm also using.
