Why aren't the mods working?

So I've exptracted and ticked the boxes, blah blah blah.

 

I go into the game and they don't appear.

 

What should I do?

Are your mods foreign mods? If for example, you tried to use an English mod on a Spanish copy of Oblivion it wouldn't work.

 

Did you try a clean save? Often mods will not change cells that your character has already visited or cells that your character is standing in when you install the mods. Check the readme files for more information.

 

Do your mods require OBSE or other programs and you don't have them yet? This can make mods nonfunctional.

 

Are your mods good mods? Sadly, there are a lot of bad mods that do not work for anybody available for download. You can check the threads at the download point to see if everyone else is complaining about the mods being broken.

 

Do you have conflicting mods? If another one of your mods edits the same things, your new mod might appear to not work. Try moving it to the end of your load order.

No, it will work, but you will see the names and others will be translated into other language. If it is race name, NPCs of the race will be mute. If it is place name, your save files may be deleted if you try to save your game there(There's some cheat mod in TESNexus, and it changes some place names to Russian, made me losing my saves until I changed names back).

 

Check: Your game version. Except some old mods(like Ren's Beauty Pack), most of mods released recently are made with Construction Set 1.2. Since they're not compatible with older game version, you'll have to update your game.

Check2: Your OS and install location. If your OS is Windows Vista or 7, it's recommended to install the game somewhere other than default location.
