New sound problem

Let's say I wanted to edit a switchblade's sounds. I got the sound file I want to use as, say, the attack sound, and I create a new sound file called, say, wpnsblade, and I apply it to the weapon from Art&Sounds.

But the sound isn't there. I tried .was files, but the sound shows up as only silence in GECK and ingame. I tried a .ogg file, but GECK didn't recognize it at all. Any advice?

Please do not disregard this thread. Some of you might remember my old request threads, in which I was a bit rude and had no idea what I was doing. But now I'm a decent modder, working on decent mods. I promise to you your help won't result in me making a worthless mod.

Weapon sounds and probably other sounds too all have to be inside the sounds/fx/wpn folder I think in order for it to work. Try moving the sound around in the data folder until it will play in GECK, once you can hit play on that sounds settings in GECK and get it to play (which you might have to hit okay and open it up again to refresh) it will play in the game.

Well, I did try that and was able to play the sound in the GECK.

However, the sounds switched back to vanilla sounds ingame.

Whoa there Hoss, you can't just go fumbling around in there expecting it to work. Oh wait you can, and it's actually the best way to learn, by messing up over an over.

Start over what is it exactly that you are wanting to do? I'm not sure we are doing it the right way is why I ask. It's also a tricky area.

The switchblade has it's swing sound- attack fail, then equip sounds

The switchblade has it's impact data set

The NPC or creature has impact sounds in the settings for them

The other statics have impact sounds in the settings for them

So kind of what we are looking at is

1. You clicked, the switchblades swing sound plays

2. The swing makes contact with a Npc or static

3. The Game then looks at which Impact data set is being used in that weapons settings

4. The game plays the correct impact sound for that creature or static

Nevermind, I put the sound to every single slot. It now goes ''Gent-Gentlemen Gentlemen Gent-Gentlemen'' instead of ''Gentlemen Gentlemen Gentlemen''. But well, nothing's perfect. :D
