Are you an optimist or pessimist?

I don't like this test much, it basically just asks you if you're an optimist or a pessimist in more ways than necessary. It'd be simpler just to have one "Are you an optimist or a pessimist?"

But that'd be defeating the purpose. (I got 78)

Hmm...

According to your responses, your perspective of humankind is neither naive nor jaded. Instead of assuming the best or worst of someone, you wait before making a judgment. You prefer to have others earn your trust, and although you won't necessarily assume everyone has a hidden agenda, you're also not the type to accept everything people say or do at face value. Tempered with a hearty dose of skepticism, this is a relatively healthy perspective. You may however, benefit from being a little more trusting. Unlike their less positive counterparts, optimists will at least try to find the good in even the most difficult of people, and are much more willing to place their faith in others. Although this doesn't mean that you should trust the good intentions of everyone you meet, a leap of faith every once in a while couldn't hurt.

it's pretty close...I've gotten screwed by about every person I've had in my life (except for my boyfriend)...I don't trust anyone...even my family...they all out to get money and they are the most angriest people you'd ever meet. They can't let go of things that happened decades ago...*sigh* I don't talk to them anymore...life's been a lot less stressful since I stopped.

What?

That can't be true. You are like the sweetest, kindest person I've gotten the pleasure to know; there's no way you're a pessimist. You don't seem like the girl who doesn't trust anyone or who has an angry family based on how nice you sound. Someone who loves to write and stargaze can't be anywhere close to that.

Being pessimistic doesn't preclude one from being pleasant, as Iliad proves, although she scored more optimistic than I. I'm one of the most pessimistic people to be around that anyone who knows me knows, but I'm certainly not nasty to people without provocation. I do doubt their motives based on past experiences and I expect the worst out of any situation, but I also feel that if other people are having a bad of a time as I am, I don't need to make it worse.

My friend Don, who is probably the only person I personally know that is darker than I am has a saying: "Every silver lining has a cloud", and I find that he's quite often correct.

That's not what I meant by that, sry, false conclusion.

I have the same personality as you to do, what I meant is that she seems like the optimist type. I had no idea about her past and how it affected her.

Well I saw the:"Kindest, sweetest...no way you're a pessimist" part so it sounded that way, but part of the problem with message boards is the lack of inflection and body language so things 'sound' a bit off in your head when reading them at times.

I can feel what she means with family. My father has moved several times after my parents got divorced and never told me where he went and didn't even talk to me at grandpa's funeral 3 years ago, so I know where Iliad's coming from. It took me years to 'unlearn' all the bigotry he spewed over my growing years and I'm actually glad we didn't spend more time together as I may have turned out with his inane prejudices. And one of my few friends from 25 years has decided to give me grief over a video game for Pete's sake. Not only is my glass half empty, the substance that is in the glass is toxic.

I can see how you could of thought that; there is so much this screen can never show.

I know I can never relate to how Illiad is feeling; I just hope she is doing ok since I hardly ever see her anymore.
