Im currently producing my next mod which will be a medium sized quest/dungeon mod. It's main plot deals with you following in the footsteps of a rogue archeologist, trying to discover her fate and, perhaps, the treasure that she sought. The primary element as far as the quest goes will be looking for clues as to where she went as well as collecting "artifacts" which will later yield a number of rewards. The rewards I have in mind are a handfull of staffs that look really spectacular and are probably under used or even unknown to the majority of the people here. In anycase, I want some ideas regarding possible spells that could be made to enchant them with because Im terrible at coming up with that sort of thing.

 

Some ideas I have of my own so far include:

 

1. Various powers that are gained as you acquire more of the staffs. (They empower eachother)

2. One of the staffs will have necromantic abilities for sure, and will be able (I hope) to ressurect dead enemies as temporary companions. (I plan on having this staff as a single cast at first, capable of having an area of effect later on)

3. Id like to possibly use some Midas spells on some of them, though I have no idea if I would be able to use that mod as a master or not atm. Im assuming atm no permission will be given to use those spells independently of that mod.

 

I havent given the spells much thought so far and I have a lot left to do so I have plenty more time to think about it, I just wanted to get some ideas to see what people might like to see. Keep in mind also that the kinds of things you see in mods like Midas Magic are a little beyond my abilities atm. I can script things just fine, but I cant do some of the special effects unless they can be provided for me.

 

btw, I have 5 staffs so far that I plan on including in the mod.

The invisible wall spell - cast on an area, it creates a temporary impassable invisible wall for an NPC to run into. It can be used to block a party of hostile NPCs while you make a getaway, or to stop one or more while you deal with others. Should have a limited life determined on the spell level of the staff.

How about a spell that creates a circle of fire around the caster or a high wall between the player and any attacker/s

Or for a variance and have a wall of bones that 'come to life' like the skellys from MMM and attack any attacker/s
