Smithing jewelry - both metals compatible with all gems

With prowlers' profit, I can reset my smithing skill and get it back up to 100 in no time flat, if I make jewelry using all my gems.

The problem is that prowlers profit does NOT increase the frequency by which I find gold and silver ingots. This means that I'm reduced to transmuting iron ore.

However, making silver ore out of iron is tedious. I have to drop every piece of silver ore after each cast, and that's a pain in the ass.

So, more often than not, I end up with stacks of gold ore. Ok, fine. I can still make gold jewelry.

But, what do I do with all the gems that can only be used to make silver jewelry?

So, I'd like a mod that lets you craft gold AND silver jewelry with ALL types of gems! Gold Sapphire necklaces, Silver Diamond necklaces, Gold Amythest Rings, etcetera.

This shouldn't be too hard for adept mod-makers, since it basically amounts to a palette swap of existing jewelry, and then add the corresponding recipes to the forge.

Anyone else want to see this?

I could make these items no problem and the ability to craft them, the only problem is there are no graphics for those items.

First of all, can you please make new messages as new posts, rather than editing old ones? I didn't receive an update that you had edited your old post, so I didn't know you had this update for me. I only re-viewed this thread on a hunch.

Second, doesn't the Creation Kit have tutorials online that teach you how to make new graphics? You may need separate software, but once you have it, wouldn't it be a simple palette swap? Take the graphic for the gold diamond necklace ... and swap the gold coloring for silver coloring! And so on and so forth!

Its time consuming to re-texture or do any re-modeling. You basically have to create a new DDS diffuse texture and specular+normal map I believe as well using the gold item models. Its a lot more work than it seems. As you can't just change the colours.

Finally able to open NIF files and textures. I should be able to easily do a retexture from here on. Though I'm not experienced in how to package NIF and texture files? I will make a folder called meshes and one called textures. But do I just zip these up with my CK file and hope everyone else can figure out how to load them in?
