In case you're not familiar with binary, you simply have to count from right to left, where every character keeps doubling in value. The 1 simply says to count it, otherwise skip it.

 

101010 --> (0x1) + (1x2) + (0x4) + (1x8) + (0x16) + (1x32) --> 2 + 8 + 32 --> 42.

I don't see the big deal about it. It's nothing special just a date. But people go crazy about it, especially on social networks. Some guy created a page about 10/10/10 and got a cheap buck of more than 100k fans. ANYONE could of make that page and get those fans.
