Dungeon Siege - A True RPG Classic

Hello, just thought i might show people, mostly to towarss the younger set about Dungeon Siege.

 

I have always loved the Pioneering Games of Dungeon Siege 1 & 2, most preferable Dungeon Siege due to its vastness and open ended world, especilally the multiplayer one.

 

Sure its outdated by most games but the graphics and gameplay especially the HORDES of unique weapons, staff animation, colors and Armors.

ALSO: They were released way back in 2001 and you may dismiss as some old fart game that old tw@ts play such as myself. xD what am I saying, Im only 22. sorry Im always around teens who play the latest games and fantasy based ones as they have no idea what Dungeon Siege is.

EDIT:.....OH YES!! I forgot, theres a large Steampunk part of the game too, involving Goblings and Robot sna Miniguns :D

Some history of the DS Universe... ( is writting in my interpritation)

 

"In the Beginning, a Mighty Empire Known as the Empire of Stars emerged from the Chaos of the First Age. This Empire was thought to be the result of like minded kingdoms who merged together to quell the Darkness that spread across the land.

 

The Empire expanded and conquered many of the surrounding lands and aquired many resources such as new magics, knowlegde and weapons of Great Power they founded thier main Empire Base on the Continent of Aranna and it spaned many thousands of Square miles, from lush greenland and Farmland, vast forests, Snowy capped Mountain peaks, scorching Endless deserts to sludge filled swamps...

 

For centuries the Empire prospered and grew insize till it eventually believed to have become as grand and benevolent as the Heaven themselfs henced they called itself the "Empire of Stars" a Empire that rivaled itself to even the Gods themselfs.

 

The Empire's terratories where vast, rich and peaceful. Rule was Stern But Just. Nearly everybody prospered but the Empire had its own darkside too. An acient evil that predates the first age was released and corrupted the Power Hungry mages to beleived themselfs Demi-Gods due to thair access and pratice of the vast inventory of Magic.

 

This corruption was not some form of possition, no but a huge change in character in the Mages that they wanted to spread lies and deciet though The Ranks of the Empire from Down to the Smallest peasant right up to the Emperor and Emperess themselfs.

 

As soon as this happened, internal struggles suddenly appeared as these changed mages started spreading rumors about the lords and nobles of the Empire provences that after a period of rising unrest, civel war broke out and this war was spreading...

 

This War was a quick but bloody one witch nearly every soldier had access to great but destructive power due to the Richness of the Empire's Spoils of Conquest.

 

Most people where to stubbon to see the truth due to the Empires ultimate weakness, its simple minded View of itself as the accension to heaven.

 

Thousands died, most of The Empires legions were stuck in mortal combat with each other, siding with thier Commander's lord

 

But the 10th legion, the Empire's most valiant and truthful Soldiers who also served as the Emperor's personal Body Guard moved far the West, to a land called Ehb witch was an old part of the Empire's first conquest of land Seeking to preserve what their Empire had lost in the battle of The Legions.

 

There they found the Kingdom of Ehb and with many of former-Empire refugess and local inhabitants, they have prospered and known Peace for Nearly Three Hundred years....

 

This Land is litted with Empire ruins and fortresses as well as many new creatures that inhabit these acient Ruins.

 

.....it is unknown what has happened to the Empire of Stars after so many years but it is believed to have crumbled into dust as well its many secrets....and the ancient Evil that caused its downfall has begun to stir once again... Seeking Vengence on those who disurbed it."

Anyways I hope you like this idea of mine as I know Dungeopn Siege 2 was a hit too and Im sure soem of you have played it aswell but Im more focised on Dungeon Siege 1 as I just love the original idea.

I played the original Dungeon Siege a lot with some of my friends on our LAN set-up back in Michigan. It was fun and I liked a lot of the summons, but I really loved the chicken gun when we found out about that.

Oh I remember playing this game and I still have it! :happy: The music... who could forget the music... I wished that people didn't cheat in multiplayer but it was a great game

This seems almost like an advertisement for the game haha. Whatever the case I'm sold, it looks really good.

 

EDIT: I also saw on the wikipedia page that the soundtrack was done by Jeremy Soule, who did the Morrowind soundtrack if I recall.

The most famous Multiplayer Zonematch line in those glory days read as follows:

"There's a sucker laggin', damn it!" :laugh:

Anyway, compared to the parallel runnin' Morrowind and Diablo II (Battle.net), Dungeon Siege was the real thrill for us and moreover, Zonematch was a freebie as was Battle.net. Internet Siege matches (up to the max 8 clients in DS, host included) are still possible today via the virtual LAN emulation of the free VPN-client Hamachi. And although the DS community is already down since long together with almost all DS sites, most of the mod and siegelet stuff is still hosted on the Internet. I logged a ton of hours in Dungeon Siege. The only level I had issues with was finding the right route in the Dwarven mine.

Graphic problems are meant to be solved. One simply has to try to catch the mood, the target atmosphere :sweat:

In those days we had Nvidia GeForce-2/3 cards installed, if ever; often it was just a SIS Rumpelstiltskin chip...
