Carimya
Hey all! I just read a bit about Nehrim but I often read "overhaul"... So does that mean that the mod replaces cyrodiil and all that stuff and makes it a new game?Or will it just make a huge addition? On the page of the mod I could only read "Overhaul" but overhaul means to me, that all the game is made new.... So is Nehrim an addition or a replacer of the game? Pls answer till this evening, I wanna download while sleeping^^
Naktis
Nope. Nehrim is like a whole new game made using Oblivion engine and it's meshes, textures and stuff like that. Nehrim doesn't change or add anything to Oblivion.
Carimya
THX for the reply... So if I understand correctly, Oblivion won´t be changed, it IS a fully new game... You just need Oblivion to make it work... Is that correct?
Megatarius
That's right. However, you will have to go through a somewhat complicated (I've heard) switching method to play either one. I'm not entirely sure how it works yet. I haven't downloaded it yet. I do know that none of your mods that use .esp files will work, because they're all based on the Oblivion.esm, and Nehrim uses the Nehrim.esm. You can probably still use file replacers like body mods though.
WastelandAssassin
yes, that is correctthough there have been reports, that it might make Oblivion stop working i can't say this is true or not, but some people did say that after installing Nehrim, their Oblivion wouldn't work Nehrim looks amazing, so if you want to try it, by all means do itbut be careful with it, and make sure you install it all as it should, and you may want to search for reports of problems before, just in case enjoy the game :)
chronosmagus
Nehrim has it's own worldspace (instead of Tamriel), NPC's (German voiced), gameplay / graphic adjustments and in fact only needs a few files from your Oblivion install folder. Since many mods might conflict it will install itself to a new folder and copy the required files from your Oblivion install. I had some problems getting it working (the installer failed to copy the required files to the new data folder somehow), but it worked fine after a bit of trying. After loading up OBMM from my main Oblivion folder again, all ESP files were unchecked though, I suppose that could be avoided with the OBMM export option. Also, you might want to make a copy of your oblivion.ini (not sure Nehrim uses it as well) and take not that saves are done in the same 'My Games' folder. The autosaves and quicksaves will thus overwrite those of your main install as well!
Carimya
Hmm... Well I want my mods to work... So I won´t install... Well but I found other awesome german mods so it´s ok. Ty to all!
Naktis
There is a way how to install races, armor, weapon, pose mods to Nehrim just I don't know how to.
chronosmagus
Nehrim is still Oblivion and the actual method of mod loading hasn't changed much. You can add mods to the data folder of your Nehrim install and enable them using the 'Data Files' option of the customized launcher / updater. Installing OBMM should also work, though you might have to use the Nehrim Launcher to start the game. The only downside is that you don't know how much they changed, so its hard to predict what mods would conflict. All the official textures and meshes are copied and available in Nehrim so that shouldn't cause any problems. I think Nehrim loads its own version of oblivion.ini, so mods modifying that will probably not work correctly (like darnified UI). It's probably best to treat Nehrim as a completely separate game from Oblivion, just play either one when you feel like it.
