Alehazar
Branka is bad; all my Warrior Talents seem to be wasted on her; she simply resists practically everything. The only thing she seems susceptible to are poisons such as Soldier's Bane -or its more potent cousin. So having Zevran in my party usually helps. Of course I need to keep him alive while my warriors dispatch the Golems first. A Grandmaster Paralyze Rune on Zevran's daggers is also a pro. I very much dislike (A Paragon of her kind Quest) what I call the "Halls of Corruption"; it's past the little Altar of Asunder, where you are confronted by a horde of Corrupted Spiders and a couple of Genlock Emissaries. The part that follows -which I have dubbed "The Queen of Corruption", where you have to defeat the Corrupted Spider Queen before you can read Branka's journal- I also find to be a major pain. Specifically the Overwhelm capability of these Giant Spiders. They only need to do it once to my mage and she's a goner. Wynne doesn't survive such a thing either. Even my Warrior is no match for three consecutive Overwhelm actions; yeah, that's right. I try to use a Pommel Strike, but the spider gets to me first. By the time I get to my feet again, the second spider pins me to the floor. And then strike three. Meanwhile my other party members are trying to avoid similar fates. I really need to pause a lot, carefully survey and scrutinize the progression on the battlefield, watch the movements of my enemies and enable party Talents while there's still time. Another boss fight I dislike is Ser Cauthrien, when she comes to arrest me for slaying Rendon Howe. Those mages cast misdirection hexes on my warriors, rendering their blows ineffective. The bowmen throw a volley of Scattershots at my party, stunning practically everyone. Just when I think I can continue the fight, another scattershot proves me wrong. And Cauthrien seems impervious to practically everything I can throw at her.Only Soldier's Bane has some effect, but when my rogue gets stunned time and again by those scattershots, it really diminishes any real chance of victory. Also Gaxkang, the Unbound, proves to be a tough fight. It rapidly depletes my health poultices and the fight seems to take forever as Gaxkang can heal itself with Drain Life.I usually let either Alistair or Sten take a whack at him, combined with Zevran and Wynne to provide healing and dispel those Hexes. Taunt, Disengage, Runes and Massive and Light Armor and poisons, as well as a solid implementation of the Tactics Screen, can keep my Rogue or Mage from getting targeted as well as keep my Warrior alive. ell46
The only boss I couldn't beat and hated it, was Cauthrien when you rescue Anora, simply because I knew the game was stacked against me and as an old post will testify I wanted to beat her just once so badly, because many times I got really close to killing her, but just couldn't manage it, that I was willing to resort to using a cheat. But, Darkwolfe talked me out of it and after a lot of thought I tried one more time, planned the tactics and stategy and I did kill her and everyone with her, which felt just amazing. I haven't tried again because I like breaking out of the prison, so having got that out of my system there isn't anyone I hate fighting.
XTR3M368
Cauthrien was definitely hard....(well the first time. Right before confronting Loghain when you have to confront her again, I destroyed her one on one.) I had to do lots of planning myself. I used Alistair to debuff those hexes from their mages and then took the mages out. I then had my crew go around and take everyone else out. I used Wynne with resurrect spells, life ward and group heal along with having my party pound the health potions. I used champion shout to keep the archers off balance along with the Paladin armor/defense buff. I usually "give in" so that I can get the XP for the prison mission though. Ysmene
It's not really a boss fight, but I absolutely hate fighting any critter with the Overwhelm ability. The character who gets Overwhelmed can't do much except scream and die. The only way I've been able to survive it is if someone with a shield is close enough and has the ability to shield bash, or if Wynne can pile on enough healing until the character can get back up. It's terrible when you're fighting a whole pack of critters, like spiders in the Deep Roads or bears in the Brecilian Forest, who keep on Overwhelming. My second time through the game, I made sure Dog got the ability as early as possible, and took great delight in having *him* Overwhelm my enemies. ThingTheWiz
Overwhelm can be a pain, but one solution I find helpful is to cast force-field on the person who has been overwhelmed, thereby making them untouchable; you can then use other distance spells like fireball to soften up the opposition who continue to attack the subject of the force-field... RustyBlade
If you are going to use force field on them you may as well cast crushing prison on the force field for the shockwave combo

Crushing Prison on top of that... Not pretty! ;D [Edit: Ok, I read the wiki for this, and I guess that the Shockwave effect doesn't impact the focus of it? That the (now freed) Companion won't be damaged by it, but any others (friend or foe) close-by will be. Hmmmm... May have to try this! ]
RustyBlade
IIRC shockwave does not affect the one in the force field; everyone else in the AOE gets blasted though. Edit: My bad, doesn't work on party members unless they are in crushing prison before you cast the force field.
Alehazar
IIRC shockwave does not affect the one in the force field; everyone else in the AOE gets blasted though. Edit: My bad, doesn't work on party members unless they are in crushing prison before you cast the force field. Though it would be helpful if an enemy has a party member in a crushing prison. Usually -mostly when playing as a mage- I have Leliana with her bow, picking off targets from a distance. I have Wynne to provide healing and Alistair or Sten as a tank. I send the tank into the fray, cast a Force Field on the tank and then unleash elemental havoc on the enemies who are still trying to hurt him. I was trying to use this tactic with Alistair and I had not seen that he was in a crushing prison, cast by an Emissary, and so the Shockwave reverberated through the people swarming Alistair. I was unsure as what had happened, but Since Alistair was not immobilized but instead bashing away at more enemies and most of them were hurled to the ground, I soon understood what had transpired. Another way of trying to avoid Overwhelming attention from bad creatures, is to cast a Glyph of Repulsion in their midst from a safe distance and then casting a Glyph of Paralysis over that one, causing Mass Paralysis in a very short time frame. Then it's back to unleashing elemental hell on the paralysed beasties. Whenever the enemies are confined in a room, I seal it off with a Glyph of Repulsion and unleash a Perfect Storm. Any enemies that are not contained by the Glyph I freeze up with a Cone of Cold. Mostly with Overwhelming enemies, timing is critical. If my talent fires too late, I can usually load my last save game, because things go quickly awry and tend to spiral out of control.Having a Warrior use a Taunt whenever my mage is targeted, can usually save the day. Even if the Warrior goes down, my mage can use Revival to put him back into the game, having incapacitated most of the uglies first. Setting the Tactics Screen can be a real help; when I first played DAO I didn't think much of the Tactic Screen. Now it helps to keep most of my party members alive, during battle. Provided I carry enough healing and mana poultices/potions.
Chiramu
I would have to say Cauthrien is the most annoying, only because every bit of dialogue she has is SO GODDAMN ANNOYING! I mash my Esc key so I can get to the goddamn fight. I hate listening to that deluded *censored*. Also listening to the demons ramble on before you fight them is also annoying.
