Its because it updates the savegames to match the ones in the steamcloud. You can just turn steam to offline mode and it will stop.

Atticus117
I have Steam in offline mode but it still keeps changing the Fallout.ini back to default so I can't get ArchiveInvalidation to work.
coralfang
I have Steam in offline mode but it still keeps changing the Fallout.ini back to default so I can't get ArchiveInvalidation to work.try this : go to settings > downloads+cloud > uncheck "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for games which supports it". Make your changes to the .ini, restart the game. edit : also steam makes a copy of your configs for steamcloud, you can find it in Steam/Userdata/. Theres some folders with number instead of names, just have to figure out which folder is the falloutnv.

Theres some folders with number instead of names, just have to figure out which folder is the falloutnv.Worked. Thanks. no problem. I found which one is the falloutnv folder for steamclouds. In my case its 22380. To find yours you just need to check the "logs" folder ( steam/logs/cloud_log ). It will be there like "[AppID 22380] Upload OK for file falloutprefs.ini[2010-10-19 07:17:30]: [AppID 22380] Upload complete" The AppID number is what you want, in my case 22380, dunno if it will be the same for everybody. So if you go to Steam/Userdata/, you will see a folder with your UserID ( it will have only one folder if you are the only one who users your computer and steam ), and then inside it the falloutnv folder (22380 in my case). In my case it ended up like this : Program Files/Steam/Userdata/2834611/22380/remote/falloutprefs.ini If you delete the .ini, next time you quit falloutnv it will make a new copy of your original .ini locate in My Documents/My Games/FalloutNV edit: the default falloutprefs.ini is in my documents and not in the steamapps folder :P
