New Vegas + Capital wasteland

You know.. it is posible to link new vegas with the map of fallout 3? and maybe do the sidequests there.

This is a fairly old post at this point, but I too am curious about how realistic this would be to do. Not in the realm of how much work, but would it be possible to create the entire Capital Wasteland as a new area in Fallout New Vegas? I'm sure the amount of effort would be tremendous, but I love both games so much, I would love to combine them.

Ok, people need to stop making threads about this already... just try looking past the 1st page and there is usually a thread asking the exact same question as you....

Yes, its possible. No, its not difficult. Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? No; as you would expect from 2 different games, there are a lot of bugs and holes. Is it legal? No; even if you wanted to slave away for months, fixing every little bug and glitch for your own private use, it still wouldn't be legal since they are 2 different copyrighted games, albeit with identical engines. As doubly illegal as a public mod. Sorry.

I do apologize; its not as if I did not look. I searched to see about previous topics, and this was the only one I found, which was more than two weeks old.

I can see the legal implications, but I was not aware if this was actually the case or not. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question though. Thank you.

It's quite doable, it's a lot of work, and there is very little chances to make it legally.

I understand. And I wish it didn't have the legal issues, because for me, combining the two games would just make them better. I own 2 copies of Fallout 3, and will soon own two of New Vegas, so I do not feel as if I am cheating the system, but a public mod would still steal sales. Its unfortunate, and I accept that it can, but shall not be done. Fair enough for me.

Enough with these threads

It's not gonna happen and it's NEVER gonna happen. Almost every day I have to see these threads every time. Just drop the thought immediately, and never talk about it again.

For reference, I'll try to make this as concise as possible:

This type of project is not necessarily illegal, unless you plan to *distribute* copyrighted game resources (meshes, textures, ESM files, etc.) intended to be used outside of the game that contains them already. The issue is that Bethesda specifically does not approve of such a project, even if the assets are not being distributed with it. The Nexus sites have maintained a very good relationship with Bethesda, and would like it to continue. For this reason, these types of mods are not allowed here.
