sativa420
I have a request for Throwing Spears. Basically, I hate the vanilla spears for a few reasons. First off, when you throw them at somebody, and they hit, they just... disappear. I was REALLY hoping they'd stick into enemies bodies, like arrows did in Oblivion... Also, I hate how they only stick in the environment for a few seconds. I hate how they CANNOT be used as melee weapons, and I hate how you can't hold the spear ready before you throw it, like by holding the mouse button (like with grenades and dynamite) I LOVE the weapon themselves, but... well these things kill me. huyche
I agree, that is a big shortcoming for players that want to use more than just guns for ranged combat.
sativa420
Hmm... I just found a throwing hatchet in game. So, I suppose this should be called "Better Throwing Weapons" Though the hatchet DOES stick into people.... only for literally a second, though :( These are the only two throwing weapons I've found so far, but I'm pretty sure there's at least also a throwing knife. Also, they should be re-usable, with a % chance that they will break instead, or even somehow work the degradation system into it.
Nyasho
i was hoping they would work like arrows in oblivion did too, i have the tribal pre order pack which lets me start with 10 throwing spears, i want to do a melee character but dont want to have to level guns/energy weapons/explosives just to be ab le to weaken enemies while i close to melee range, that and i've yet to find a vendor that sells spears or throwing hatchets in decent quantities, the only regular supply seems to be from killing caesars legion enemies, having it so there was a % chance that you could reuse them based on your melee weapon skill would be great, maybe a 70% chance they would be reusable at 100 melee skill or something like that
Moraelin
I think it may be actually because the game is made for bullets not for arrows. If they gave it a probability to find your spear back, like in Oblivion, you'd also routinely find some gun rounds on the corpses you killed with that gun. Not sure if it can be scripted to give a spear to the victim on impact, though. That said, I suppose it would be possible to just make a virtually unlimited supply of throwing weapons for sale somewhere. Say, you could buy your javelins by the dozen from the Legion or something. fiddi
This sounds like a really good idea! It's something thats been bugging me since i threw my first spear in the game, it just disappeared. So maybe one of you modders can take initiative and go make this mod. Many would be greatful if you did :)
Moraelin
Well, as was said, the game is made for bullets not spears or arrows. The spear is basically both a weapon and a projectile, and the projectile is by and large a bullet. If you don't want to lose it, I'm afraid you'll have to make one that doesn't use ammo. Meaning that after you threw one spear, you still have one spear for your char to pull out, and so on. Infinite ammo, really. I used that trick for the thrown version of my Alexander Anderson's Bayonet. I can't say I find it any better for immersion, but it's more convenient. And in that case I had the excuse of being based on an anime character who has an endless supply of bayonets.
avianmosquito
Why not script it to add the weapon to the enemy on impact with the additem command? It's a step.
