mrspongeworthy
OK, I absolutely can't find an update button anywhere, nor, apparently, is the patch available as a stand-alone download. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but could some kind person here please point me in the right direction. How do I download and install this patch? My steam downloaded it automatically for me. Yours probably already did it and you didnt notice. Thanks guys. Is there an easy way to check and see if this update has installed? The version number of my executable is 1.1.0.268 (Also, are you saying that this is a completely silent update process? That's worrying. At no point did it tell me an update was taking place, and at no point was there an unusually long launch time which might indicate an update was installing...) revelationjp
For me the auto update took around 5-10 mins, (used the opportunity to take a smoke break so i'm not sure) but it was pretty obvious and i don't think you could've missed it. maybe check your steam settings to see if you turned auto update off? First indication would probably be the name going yellow* in the games list and a new entry in the downloads section of the library. Oh, and a complete inability to launch the game while it's downloading (and installing, simultaneously. That's one of the plus points of Steam: once it's downloaded, press play and it will go with no additional fuss, except for the first time you install the game when DirectX installers will get in your way). Then, when it's done, a little toast would pop up on the bottom right of your screen. The download should remain on the Downloads section until you shut down Steam. I should know. I have TF2. http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/tongue.gif *depending on Steam skin. AFAIK the default is yellow.
Tendril
Hmm, the description I see for it (PC) isPreferences, quicksaves, and autosaves should behave normally. Cloud support currently disabled. Edit: Woops, apparently there's been another update Edited October 22, 2010 by Tendril

blaster395
Hopefully it fixes this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToKIkw3LIoQ I didn't get this bug, but it seems quite a few people have. That is not a bug, that is a feature, a twisty neck mutation.
mrspongeworthy
Thanks for the help on this. I've been tracking my exe version number now and my game is indeed updating automatically but so silently and quickly that I've never noticed. With the last update my system did take about 10 seconds longer to launch the game. I assume it downloaded in the background already and was installing during those additional seconds.
