ginnyfizz
Hello all! I haven't got the game just yet...until the postman comes today, so I am just asking in the hope that I'll get an answer (bows politely to all fellow members) before I install! Looks like I will be able to get the benefit of the patch first and then mod! To that end, could anyone tell me where the Fallout NV.ini goes? As the first thing I am going to want to do is bInvalidateOlderFiles = 1! I am wondering if with it being a Steam install it goes somewhere different. Trigoras
It's still generally where its always been, Your Documents -> Your Games -> FalloutNV -> Fallout.ini Although the location of the game itself will be different than normal due to Steam. PerroLoco53218
Speaking of the location of the game... I installed from the disk (DVD) after validating with Steam. The install was about 6.6GB - where the hell is it? I like doing texture mods.

pretzdothack
You actually have to edit the FalloutPrefs.ini. I did both .ini files just in case. Find the archive section and make the last line look like this: SArchiveList=ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Textures2.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices1.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa

123rune20
Do I need to put an ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated! bsa file into FalloutNV\Data? Or wut?
ginnyfizz
You do, and then you also need to register the BSA in the ini. As described by pretzdothack. I have done all of this and am running like a charm with the Type 3 mod for example showing up fine.
CrazyAce
I cannot get textures to work. After I edit the Fallout.ini file, Steam reverts it back to default. :edit: For thoes of us that are getting this simular issue, use this: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=229 Smart check to your data folder and it will create an archive invalidator file there. NOTE: this will have to be done every time a new file is added... Exlcuding the esm's and the esp's.
CrazyAce
Sorry for the bump moderators. Since no one replied if it works or not, here is the actual fix: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1126676-archiveinvalidation-invalidated-steam-issue/page__gopid__16541269entry16541269
