SeriesOfBeeps
Yeah, I don't think there's an advantage or disadvantage, it's just if you want there to be humorous references in the game or not. I think it's a compromise between a lot of the developers from the first two Fallout games, which had a lot of humor, and the more serious tone of Fallout 3.The thing that's bugging me about this perk is that FO3 had odd things that you could discover. The perk, or at least the pipboy notification mentioned already, seem akin to the developers jumping around behind you going, "Ooooh, it's weeiird!" It loses the subtlety that made the odd things you could find so fun when it's pointed out that this is weird. Even just having a companion comment on it would be more subtle.I took the perk expecting even more oddities and goofball antics around the game, but as far as I can tell, most of the completely absurd things are standard gameplay - Repconn, anyone? I haven't actually encountered anything else that triggered that pipboy notification, which either means it is more subtle later on, or the perk is way less interesting than anticipated. manho221
I took the perk also and for the first few times I didn't realize what the little pip notification was, lol It's all good I now realize when I see that and hear the kooky music Im getting some perkage. I like it, glad I chose.
HemiWagon
I took the perk and emidietly found wierd things around the wasteland. The stash near the broken radio tower were the "girl" is supposed to be when i found it i got the strange message and music but there were 4 red balls in a perfect line up there o.O . Also found a skeleton in a fridge wearing a "lucky Gamblers Hat" that added 1 perception. The most interesting thing that i found !! Semi Spoiler alert!! When you get the kings cyber dog as a companion i talked to him once and after a few questions i get a list of things and one of them was a Lassy reference cause you can ask him " Jimmi fell in the well??" it gives you a map marker and there is a unique BB gun in the bottom, oh and a very angy mole rat standing over a skeleton. !! End of Spoiler alert !! This is definetly a worth while perk just to see all the strange and messed up things bethesda has added this time round lol. CarlCorey
First was some traveler walking around Goodsprings at midnight asked to help his girlfriend at a ridge by a broken radio tower ...I met the guy too and I didn't take that perk. After killing the geckos, I ran into him before I found his camp and he apologized for fooling me, thanked me for clearing the geckos so he could get to his stuff and then drew his gun to shoot me. Does anybody here remember Count Floyd from the old Second City TV show? "This is really scary, kids - REALLY scary!" If you have to spell it out, that means it's not working. I'm not saying this stuff isn't weird. It's just not weird for this game. I can see why the "messy kill" perk would be optional - a lot of people don't want that. But I don't see why they would take the time and effort to put this creative content in the game, but then make it so that many players won't see it. The message came when looking at his stuff. As mentioned, it was balls lined up in unison and a few other things of clutter. Perhaps there were just subtle differences then
