superlarrio
let me start by saying i bought my pc copy of fallout nv. no pirated version, that being said i dont like running it through steam. so far ive gotten 4-5 times where steam would give me an error message(error 51) or something when i try to start fallout. then id have to open steam itself and it would do an update then the game would work again...annoying. i found a crack that replaces the original nv exe's that lets me play without the disc and also bypasses steam. my question is, is it now safe to remove steam off my comp all together or will i need it for future patches and whatnot? like i said i bought my copy, ill scan the receipt as proof if needed. im not against pirating games, ive done it with games i just wanna try but i buy games from companies i love You've been here long enough to know that admitting to piracy is a one-way ticket out the door around here. The nexus sites do not support piracy and ban those that are using illegally obtained games and content.Bye Bye-DarkeWolf Edited October 23, 2010 by DarkeWolf
Delusibeta
Probably going to need it for future patches: there's been two of them already, exclusively from Steam (because wrapping them into a seperate installer would probably be a pain in the arse, these patches were relatively small). Also, not sure about Nexus's policy on cracks. I know they have zero-tolerance on piracy , but you can argue both ways on cracks.

I think the ruling is that it's too easy to stray into illegal stuff if people are discussing noCD cracks.
JimboUK
As said patches will be your problem, in the long run it might be easier to get Steam working properly.
DarkeWolf
I just want to make mention of why this user was banned. Its not about asking for essentially a "no cd crack". The site's views on that, can be read here. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/240224-im-confused/It's the open admission of having pirated games that got this user banned.-DarkeWolf
