More realistic leather armour replacement?

Are there any mods out there that replace the standard leather armour with lamellar or something else like that which would actually provide some protection? Because leather armour, at least as Skyrim depicts it, is bullshit. And it'd be good to get a reskin for it that would replace it with something that actually works as armour.

Not exactly a helpful response.

not a very informative request. i know what you want the leather armor to be replaced with, but many others will have no idea what you're talkin about. also wording and presentation of your request is kinda... terrible? i guess that's a good word for it.

you sound demanding and are sounding like a difficult person to work with. i dont know if any of that is true, but the wy you worded your request shows that.

is that a better response?

Well, that's a lovely attitude. I point out that your previous post did not address the very simple question that I had asked, and your response is to first blame me for you making a post that does not address the question, and then insult me.

Here's a tip: If you can't even address the question, much less answer it, then you shouldn't be posting at all. Somebody else might know the answer, and there's other things you could be doing with your time other than wasting the OP's.

sorry bit frustrated with stuff... kinda wrote that a bit harsher than i intended. anyways if your wonderin why the armor isnt made the way you want; it is because the guard armor already had a very similar look and they wanted to make sure they looked different. my whole point is you're complaining about the vanilla armor not being able to protect you, yet the armor you suggest wouldnt protect you any better... or at least that's what i got from it... again sorry friend didnt mean to be jerk or nothin.

I'm going to break this down, okay?

The guard armour is quilted armour over mail. Totally different in appearance and function.

Actually, it would. Lamellar armour is vastly superior to plain leather. In fact, it's the single most protective non-metallic armour produced before the modern age. Do you know how lamellar armour is made? It's make out of something called cuir bouilli, or "waxed leather". They take rawhide, which is technically not leather as it isn't tanned but whatever, cut it into rectangles, put holes in the squares for lacing, and they dip it in molten wax. Then they let it cool, and the wax hardens around the leather. The result is a material more like a hard plastic than leather. Then they lace the squares together so they overlap horizontally and vertically, so there's no gaps. This is anchored around a rawhide backing and frame to keep it together and keep the plates and wax from irritating the wearer's skin.

This armour is actually fairly effective. Against most weapons it's not as good as mail, but it's better than quilted armour. Which in turn is better than any kind of hide.

i did not know that... well the part about the single best not metal armor part and the wax. im a blacksmith i dont do much with leather. that is a good reason for wanting the change.

i know, but that was one of the reasons stated by Bethesda... sounds like lazy to me... anyways my stance has changed here. i'd like to see this armor replacer made sounds like it could end up being pretty cool lookin.

Yeah. It looks pretty good. And it's functional, too. I can't think of any armour I want more than lamellar. The only other armours I'd even want are chainmail and quilted armour (possibly as a replacement for hide). I found chainmail already, and a gambeson isn't as high of a priority as lamellar to me. (Especially since lamellar could just be a reskin of leather, which means no more leather nonsense, killing two birds with one stone.)

On a side note, placing pictures is pretty frustrating in this thing. I can't get the third and fourth pictures into the same line for some reason.
