do you guys also think "pretty companion" mods are getting out of hand?

I personally have to agree... I have been visiting the site less and less over the past few months, and it's largely because like 40% of the featured mods are pretty followers now... combine that with like, 40% of the mods being slooty armor mods, and it just becomes a hassle to find anything decent.

I honestly feel this is more nexus's fault then it's users. They should have a much more costumizable and interesting hotfiles systems based on what the user likes, instead of "whatever random new mod happened to receive a lot of endorsements these past few days"

I mean, the way it works now unless you get featured on a youtube channel or get in the hotfiles within a few days after uploading your mod, you have basically no chance of your mod being well known and popular.

It just bugs me that there are hundreds of amazing mods on this site I cant find because the search system is so shallow you basically have to know what you are looking for to find it, or just get lucky. And then the hotfiles just shows me overly attractive lifeless followers and slooty armors that all look exactly the same.

Yes, I know I can change my filter options and have these mods not show up, but I dont want to block them all outright. I have no issue with these sorts of mods, I in fact download some of them from time to time, I just get tired of seeing NOTHING but them. >_<

just filter them sometimes. seriously just look for general mods. when i come on here i dont go looking for one mod, i look for several mods of a certain type. if i want armor i will search with the adult filters off and then search again with them on. the real issue is people keep tagging their mods with 'adult' when it is actually just a good looking armor that has a very small adult theme.

either way if you want to look for non-sexualized armor search the Steam workshop, frequently the mods on steam have a Nexus version.

If you don't want to see follower mods on Hot Files, change your filter settings: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/users/tagpreferences/?

I've got "Sexy/Skimpy", "Anime" and "Companions" blocked and I'm happily getting mods that interest my in my hot files, and lots of variety.

Eek, I don't see an option for "aesthetically pleasing Dwarven Teapots"....

for the last month or two, i have not been able to look at the Nexus front page without seeing 2-3 "pretty follower" mods. i would not mind if they were unique, but they are not, they are generic followers with a pretty face. of course there is nothing we can do to change it, i know that, i just want the opinions of you guys, do you also think there is too many pretty, yet generic followers on the front page?

No. Absolutely not. Mods are not requirements so if people want to make them, great.

I do want more varied mods but right now all this means is that we have a lot of 'pretty follower' mods. next week it will be something else.

I do think that the thread is pretty pointless. Maybe you should have worded things differently. Why should it even matter what's on the hot files?

Is that even a valid reason? Why not just ignore the mods? I check the Nexus quite often and there's always some interesting mods to be found. You guys really need to look beyond the pretty followers.

I bookmarked the Latest Files page ages ago and always go there first. The main page with its "hot files" and "news" almost never has anything that interests me. Combine that approach with a few filters and scanning through the list for interesting new mods still gives a decent variety. But there are spikes of activity for certain types of mods over time.

it's not just a problem in the nexus. you'd be surprised how often it happens in the real world. in professional circles, in friends circles, in sports circles.

- and this whatstheirface, what's their business here anyway?

- she? oh she's liek hawt!

- ...annd?

- and that's it!

- mmhm...
