Help with isolated slowdowns

Hey guys,

I have an annoying issue that maybe soneone can identify and offer a solution.

I've been playing Oblivion for almost 2 years and all of a sudden these glitches appeared. I have not modified the game at all since the first month of playing.

My first indication that something had changed was probably when casting healing spells, I noticed the spiraling cloud "halos" staying on screen and followed me for several minutes - or until I went through to another room, cave, etc.

That's probably related to this issue. In the Oblivion realm, I jumped on the elevator (some call it a copse masher) , hit the up button and nothing happened except the sound of the elevator. I hit the button several times, then noticed a small "jump". I then realized the elevator was rising, but the journey to the next level took about 30-45 minutes (real time).

Also related are the doors that open slowly. Doors that actually swing open (or slide open) also move in slow motion.

My game is lightly modded, but as I said - I've added nothing new in the last 18 months.

Mods:

Unofficial Oblivion Patch

Robert's female bodies compendium

Vanity Camera Smoother

Stylish Jump-Animation Replacer

Short Grass V3

That's it.

I searched to see if this problem had been discussed before, but got no hits. Anyone ever seen this before?

Thanks

A-Bomb. or Animation Bug. Also known as Slow/Frozen Doors. Below is more information.

Typically the A-Bomb happens around 200 hours of game play. There is a 'counter' within the game and when it reaches a certain point the problem suddenly kicks in. Wrye Bash has a function to Repair A-bomb. Pretty simple to use after you get Wrye Bash installed. I strongly suggest you read the information surrounding WB before attempting to install to avoid issues.

You can also use OAF - Oblivion Animation Fixer. It should also be able to repair the issue.

Personally I've only encountered the A-bomb twice. As a user of Wrye Bash I used the function built in to fix it. It has worked both times with no repercussions. Maybe others can comment on OAF.

After reading about Wrye Bash and OAF (animation fixer), i'm leaning toward OAF.

The discussion associated with WB leads me to believe that the installation is more complicated than OAF. WB seems to have many useful features, but really, for my needs I didn't see anything I can't live without. My computer skills are such that I need to use the simplest fix for my problem.

Unless someone really thinks my choice should be re-visited, I'll try the OAF file this weekend.
