wassup367
So im wondering if there is a mod that can be ported over or if someone wants to make a mod that makes radiation even more deadly. So if your gonna go into a irradiated area you pretty much have to have a radiation suit or you will die. or just make the death from radiation like 150 or something. Fonger
current rad suits only give you 30 rad resistance while the chemical gives you 40 and enough rad will kill you.
wassup367
In the current game radiation is not really a posing threat in any way, unless you go afk in a pool of it. And of course mod the radiation suit too.
Luckmann
Changing rad accumulation rate is really easy. Open up the GECK.Go to 'Gameplay' tab.Click 'Settings'. Filter for "fRadiationAccumulationRate". Default is 1.The lower it is, the faster you will accumulate radiation. For example, if you set it to 0.5, you will be accumulating radiation at twice the rate as before. I.e. instead of gaining 1 Rad/1 Second when standing in a 1 Rad/Sec field, you will gain 1 Rad/half second. But as far as I know, there is no way of altering the actual rates across the wastes and the lowest rate you can have is 1. So as long as you get it down to 1, that's the lowest you can have, making additional radiation resistance rather useless. If that's not true (I'm actually not sure), then I'd simply lower the benefit of Rad-X to about 20, while increasing radiation resistances on the Radiation Suits by approx. 50-70% each (other items that increase radiation resistance not included). It would actually be fairly fast to whip up in GECK, but would require some playtesting to see if the lowest rate is actually 1 Rad/sec, or if it can actually go lower (increasing the benefit of rad resistance). Luckmann
Sorry for double-posting, but this is essentially a completely separate idea I had that is unrelated to my previous post. What if we can decrease the base radiation resistance of the player by between 50 & 100? That should effectively double radiation accumulation while still allowing anti-radiation gears and items to remain effective. Radiation seems to have no effect on NPCs already, anyway. I would up the radiation resistance of gear even further, then, though. Anyone know if that'd be doable?
wassup367
Ah i see that makes sense, it would be nice to know how to do that.

I tested it, so i know that in NV if you sett fRadiationAccumulationRate to 10 character will get 10 rad/sec standing in 1 Rad/Sec field.

This is wrong!!If vanilla is 1 rad/sec and you set "fRadiationAccumulationRate" to 5.000000 then you will recieve 5 rads/sec. 10.000000 and you'll get 10 rads/sec. This multiplier does not affect either wading or swimming, only external water sources such as radiation barrels or rad areas. fWadeRadiationDamageMult and fswimRadiationDamageMult work a bit differently as each .250000 is worth a rad. So if the vanilla water source you wade or swim in is 1 rad/sec then setting either of these to 0.250000 will result in 1 rad/sec. If you set either to 1.000000 you will recieve 4 rads/sec. If you set them to 1.500000 you'll recieve 6 rads/sec and so on. -Mal Edited July 22, 2011 by ElderMalaclypse
